This replaces a brake that activated when my metal mitre bar made blade contact. SawStop is unbelievably fast in actuation. It barely nicked the mitre bar. Entirely my fault but if I ever had any doubts about how good and sensitive the system is such doubts have vanished forever.

I’m getting really good at installing these things. Up to four so far. No complaints though; the damned things work! Actually haven’t put any flesh into the blade, though. Well, not exactly. First time, a friend was ripping twelve-foot 2x4’s and, thank God, hit a nail. The saw is not made for such use. Then I grabbed a just cut piece of wood AFTER shutting the saw off. Yup, touched the blade as it stopped moving… almost. Bang! ‘worked perfectly. It did no damage to the blade. Next, I touched the blade with the miter guage. SawStop seems to be fail proof… again. One complaint: these should be sold in a discount Four Pack! ... show more

Have had the SawStop saw for several years and had almost forgotten that it had safety feature until... I was cutting a board and I think that there was a nail and suddenly the whole thing shut down. No I did not get finger in the blade but something caused it to activate and so I needed a new brake housing. This was as cheap as any and so far works well. ... show more
