  • Total Quality!!
The perfect addition to my beautiful contractor saw ! The installation is not to bad pretty much anyone that is handy can get it done. I bought a portable band saw from Harbor Freight to cut the tube and rails myself and it worked beautiful. I painted the ends after cutting and deburring with black enamel paint. The cuts were very straight and i suggest you get a 24 tooth blade for the band saw, the one that comes with the bandsaw is for wood or aluminum. Very happy with the finished product and total SawStop quality. By the way I paid $78.00 for the bandsaw thinking that i would just through it away when finished, Not so, that band saw is awesome you will want to keep it. If you have a outfeed table from saw stop you will not be able to use it unless you modify it The slots will no longer line up. One more thing i forgot to mention the extension table i had a problem with. You need to find a washer to fit in the slot behind the bolt head. I striped out the bolts that hold it in place and had to retap them. I placed a washer behind the bolt head that fit the slot and that fixed the problem. Take in mind i did this by myself if you have someone hold the extension table while you tighten the bolts it might help. I personally think the extension table should be much more user friendly to move without a wrench to lossen the bolts and move it. In sawstop defense you probably will never move it but if you need to cut at an angle that requires support its a hassle to move it. I think some screws like they have for every thing else would be more appropriate and much mor user friendly. The bolts need bigger heads to fit in the track! All in all i am very happy though and i hope this helps to understand this new saw stop option. ... show more

  • SawStop sliding crosscut table
I spent lots of time reviewing the Luguna/grizzly vs the SawStop and finally decided on the SawStop. In short this thing is dead accurate right out of the box. The unit has several detents on the miter which was a major complaint from lots of reviewers in the past. I set up the miter (which was perfect right out of the box) when checked with a square. I loosened the 3 screws removing the miter & then reinstalled it. Was quite simple & when checked with a square showed "perfect" again. Since many reviewers claimed the miter required tweaking to get it perfect, I took a known parallel board cutting a shallow 90 degree slot. I continued flipping the board cutting the slots until the final slot met the initial slot. If the miter were off any amount the slots would not line up. My result was a perfect connection. I installed the SawStop sliding on my 15 year old Delta Unisaw with the left extension remainIngrid in place. It took a while to make a jig to use the SawStop holes while drilling new holes on the Unisaw cast iron wing. I oversized the new holes slightly and used the supplied nuts & bolts. I also set the slider flush with the front of the saw which eliminates the complains of front access. It does cut the cross cut capacity to about 39" Expensive but well worth the cost once you get over the initial shock. ... show more

  • Did not work for me
I may have gotten a defective unit but after careful (and extremely tedious) assembly the fence would move smoothly at 90 but if angled to any degree it would "catch" in the miter slot of the sliding table and often just could not be moved. The biggest pain with this accessory is getting the sliding fence at the appropriate height. Instructions advise .01 to .02 inches off the table saw surface. Sawstop support advised setting the height so that it "balanced" on the edge of the sliding table, whatever that means. I must add however that Sawstop support was great, it's the accessory that sucks. To adjust the fence there are 4 bolts holding it to your saw table (I retained the left saw table extension). These bolts are exceptionally difficult to loosen/tighten because of their location and given the very tight tolerances the slightest change will screw up the fence height. I had the fence scraping the table surface, I had it too high but never got it to the point where the fence would move smoothly when placed at anything other than 90. I'd get it just right using a feeler gauge but when the bolts were tightened it would shift up or down. I literally loosened/tightened/checked fence height DOZENS of times, the next day I could hardly get up due to leg pain. My advice is to contact Sawstop support before purchase and have them describe how to position the fence for optimum operation. If you feel it's a reasonable job and you really need this thing go ahead. If you don't really need this thing move on. It's over 70 lbs and you'll likely be stuck with return shipping cost. ... show more

  • Dead on for accuracy, just gets in the way for other task on the table saw
This will make breaking down sheet goods a breeze, fence gets in the way for smaller task

  • Really nice slider and very robust aluminum extrusions
Really nice slider and very robust aluminum extrusions. I have found a few quirks but they have been minimal and somewhat nit picky. One of the quirks is the absence of any 0/90 detent on the protractor head to return to after making angle cuts. You have to pull out a square and realign it with the blade. My last slider, shop fox, had one and it worked pretty well too bad the slider itself was of poor construction. This slider is also much larger than that of the Grizzy/Shop Fox model and the way the fence locks to the table is a vast improvement over those as well. This slider also has the option to leave on your left hand extension wing and not cut the fence tube, but that puts you a pretty good distance away from the blade, I opted to cut the fence tube for my set up as I rarely cut to the left of the blade. Over all it is worth the investment, although the price point is a bit high. ... show more
