The thing that I don't like about Sauder's storage cabinet is a tolerable issue. I hate "engineered" wood. At least this doesn't use particle board but some other, better product. Still, it's not real wood. On the other hand... I compared this to a somewhat similar cabinet made partially out of real wood and yeezers - it was over twice the price! So there's a place for engineered wood if the product is well built. Is Sauder's product well built? Yes... for what it is. It is engineered wood that's screwed together. Not real wood with joints and glue and screws. This isn't something your grandchildren will be using but you'll get 20 or more years out of it unless your kids beat it up. I mean, it should be durable under normal use but kids might wreck it. Kid do stuff like swinging from the doors or climbing on the shelves. And I wouldn't recommend moving these from house to house. I wouldn't be optimistic that an assembled cabinet would survive a moving company. What about the assembly? Ah, my assembly was easy! I hired somebody some contractors who were working in the building to do it. They had between 1 and 3 people on the job. It took them about 4 hours to assemble and install 2 cabinets. I've seen reviews say the doors don't align well. All the doors on these cabinet are perfect. These contractors do a lot of cabinet work. They're familiar with the door hinges and approve of them. How do they look? They look GREAT. Sauder even supplies little wood grain stickers to hide the screw holes. The cabinets have a ton of space and adjustable shelves. You can even remove the shelves on one side giving you 53" of vertical storage. I'm quite happy with these. They're a good value, they look good and I can store a LOT of stuff in them. ... show more

    • Great basic cabinet with great price

Ordered 2, looks sooooo good, so just ordered the 3rd one! :DD - Note this is a basic cabinet. The board feels thin but if you assemble and assemble them properly, everything should be well aligned with not much efforts. Saw complains on the doors, pay attention to the TWO adjustment screws, especially the set screw while installing and you will get them perfectly aligned with an even gap. - Easy to assemble, The boards were so well organized in the package and you don't need to mess up the boards, only need to work on the boards one by one from top down until you reach the first full vertical board. All drilled holes are well aligned for both cabinets I received so far. - Packaging is good for both packages in my case. They are heavy though so be careful. - Price is great even for a basic cabinet, and with Amazon free shipping, you cannot find better deals :) - My only suggestion is there could be one more shelf, or at least more drilled holes in case one want to cut and install his/her own shelf board, which is what I'll do. ... show more

Purchased a couple pieces of Sauder furniture over the yrs. Lrg desk, wardrobe. Sauder tends to be sturdy, shelves last yrs. w/o sagging. While this cabinet looks nice, it's quite a bit thinner (esp doors/ sides) than typical Sauder pieces... feels like coated cardboard. Flimsier than anticipated for $160. :-/ That said, box arrived w/i a wk, contents unscathed/ intact. Assembly took about 2 hrs. No issues. Doors align, no missing hardware. Fits in our sm. porch nicely for extra lrg kitchen bowls, mandoline, rotary grater, silicone bags, dish towels, etc. Don't think I'd store very heavy items on upper shelves? However, some have had no issues doing so (reviews) 6 qt instant pot fits on 1 side (bottom shelf) perfectly. Enameled 5 qt Dutch oven w. sauté lid fits in other side. Will do for now. Not someth. you'll be handing down to kids/ grandkids but should last long enough for our needs. Not thrilled but not unhappy with this cabinet, overall. ... show more

If you can read you can do this. A bit flimsy if it's freestanding. One screw through the back into a stud on the wall fixes that. Not sure if more expensive units are sturdier, I suspect not. Having said that, it's a good value for the money.

This armoire was extremely easy to put together since all quality hardware was included and directions were provided and simply explained. The interior is more spacious than I had expected and I now have a handy closet to hold all bedding, blankets, comforters and sheets and matching pillowcases easily stored together and kept dust free. The exterior is sleek and rich looking. The piece is quite sturdy. Great addition to my guest room! ... show more

I ordered 2 of these for my in-laws. The cabinets arrived in good shape and my 86 year old father-in-law assembled them on his own. They are mdf wood but the quality is ok for the price.
