I researched a lot of different USB c hubs, but settled on this one. I’d previously bought a Satechi 4-port USB hub for my 2012 MacBook Pro, and was very pleased with it; the design made it look like Apple made it, matching very nicely. So, when I recently bought a new Air, I needed a hub to connect my existing monitor and other USB 3 peripherals. This one works perfectly, matches the space-gray color perfectly, and is small enough to throw into my bag with the computer. The power pass-through charges at a good rate (unlike some of the others), so I can still have one USB C poor open on the Air for USB C peripherals as I start acquiring them. Does run a little warm when charging, but not so much as to worry about. Highly recommended!

I leave this plugged into my Mac mini, use it almost daily, primarily to read SD and micro SD cards. I haven’t had any issues with it at all. It’s pretty lightweight, so it doesn’t just sit in place on my desk, the cord kind of dictates where the device will end up but it is still convenient and reliable. I wish the cable was longer, but I knew how long the cable was before I purchased it, so I have no problem with that.

Great for using with a iPad Pro or MacBook Pro/Air. Transfer speeds are appropriate. Design is good overall. Would have preferred an extra usb c input to use and charge at the same time and it’s pricey but the power delivery and the USB 3.0 are great reasons for it being that high of a price.

I purchased this to use with my new iPad Pro 12.9 and conventional computer desk equipment. Paired with the appropriate power level AC adapter (60W or greater power adapter) works perfect as it should. Connect monitor with HDMI cable and boom - screen image is mirrored to the monitor as well as sound. If your external monitor doesn't have speakers, the iPad will not produce sound through its speakers. To work around this I recommend connecting some USB speakers to your monitor. This item allows this type of use while either charging the iPad or using the power from being plugged in. In addition, there are a variety of ports on the dock that the iPad doesn't have allowing for greater flexibility use of the iPad.

Great adapter given its many useful ports/slots, works well! The adapter is sleek and slim, very portable. The colour also matches the MacBook really well. Fast transfer speed when connected to external HDD. Tried to charge using the USB-C PD on the adapter and it does heat up quite a fair bit - I would recommend charging the MacBook directly if you've got a lightning port to spare.

I’m really impressed by this. It works perfectly, right out of the box with no setup required. I’m surprised at how small it is ( I didn’t check dimensions) but that’s not an issue. It’s solidly constructed and feels very high quality. I put a little piece of museum putty under it to stop it sliding around on my desk. It does run a little warm which I hope won’t reduce its life. I’m really happy with this purchase!

[EDIT ON THE REVIEW] Contacted customer service and it seems that sometimes you need to reset your USB-C ports, which also seems to be a limitation of the standard USB-C. In any case, customer service advised me to follow a simple procedure and the adapter works again. Why doesn't Satechi make this guidance public? Or part of the FAQs when you buy the adapter? At the end of the day, customer service rocked and that's the reason for 5 stars. ----- Initially, I was very happy with my purchase as it would work flawlessly. 98% of its use was to connect my MacBook Pro to an external monitor. Today, the adapter won’t even turn on the blue light indicating it is connected to my laptop. I understand adapters may have a lifespan but this one is not even 5 months with very light use. Style and looks are not more important than durability, especially when you pay premium-price. Wouldn't buy again - total disappointment.
