I read the reviews before buying this French shoe polish. A bit more expensive than American brands . Most reviews were positive. Some observations: Very difficult to open. Yes, it screws off but only with Herculean effort. I applied a coat and brushed after dry, Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. It's good but not great. I used this on nearly new dress shoes so the leather was in good shape to begin with. If you don't mind spending nearly double the cost of a good American brand, have at it. ... show more

Safir pate delux is a good soft wax (bees wax base) for a quick matte shine with some color and some leather conditioning. This is a good product for touching up a shine. Not as much color (or conditioning) as the creme but a better shine. I usually start by using a 3 step process: cream, then pate, then gloss. I use the mirror gloss hard wax (carnauba base) product for higher and long-lasting shine. ... show more

It is probably the best wax made hands down. My only complaint is not a major one, but I will say it: I wish it had more pigments. I purchased the Navy Blue wax and use it for a top layer on black boots. I spread this layer with my fingers and this would normally color my fingers blue, this however left only a nice moisturizing sheen, no visible pigments at all. While I feel it lacked in pigments, it more than made up for it in shine. I always love the natural smell from Saphir products no harsh chemicals here, just natural moisturizers. I totally understand that waxes don't contain much color normally and if you want something with a lot of pigments, you get that with a cream. However with what I am using it for I can't use a navy blue cream, it would be to to much blue. Anyway, this will not keep me from purchasing or using this product again. No matter what, this is the best wax shoe polish ever. Keep in mind though this is the final stage to use when spit shining, for a heavier pigment and to cover scuffs etc. you need a cream. I usually use Tarago though due to the price. It is also a very good cream that seems to also be natural, however I have no proof and that is in another review! Thanks for staying around to the end, Now go ahead and hit the like button! If you want me to review the cream by Saphir just let me know! Or send me a jar! This review by the way is like all my other ones; totally honest and everything was purchased and paid for by me! I never do reviews on items I received for free or discounted. A little tiny bit of this goes a long way! I used it to repair the color in a couple of worn spots on a navy blue leather purse. The tiniest dab soaked in and left beautiful color! I highly recommend it.

Soldiers, Seamen, Airmen, Police, and anyone else needing or wanting a mirror finish on their boots/shoes: This polish is absolutely worth the money. This is without a doubt the most phenomenal leather polish I have found. The picture shown along with this review is after only three quick coats on 5.11 A/T boots which were stripped of all polish prior to trying this product and lightly sanded. These same boots were entirely coated in mud a couple days after this picture (due to running through the backwoods of Tennessee) and subsequently were on the receiving end of a high pressure water hose at a self-serve car wash and some intense scrubbing at home after my shift. Amazingly, once they were cleaned off I followed up with just one quick coat with a lightly-dampened old T-shirt and they were back to a mirror finish. All I can say is ignore the cost; one can of this will outlast multiple same-size cans of Kiwi, Lincoln, or any other brand.
