You only need a little bit on the included brush. All you do is agitate the brush bristles a little and it foams up well. It cleans the sides of the souls very well. For some mesh fabrics, it may take a little bit more work to get it clean. Also, included brush is not too hard or harsh, but also not too soft. Perfect for sneaker surfaces. I have used this only a couple of times so far--on my sneakers, and on leather boots. The sneakers ended up looking like new, but on the light-colored leather, it left a stain. (I did follow instructions.) I don't really mind as the stain is small, but I probably will stick to using it on fabric.

So far this is the best shoe cleaner I have ever used. The solution is not thick, it’s watery, easy to use. You mix it with some water and it’s ready for use. It does not have any sort of smell either. It dries up pretty quickly and it lasts a long time since u mix it with water. It works wonders!

Hands down amazing. I spent maybe 3 to 5 minutes on the shoe on the right. Even kept the laces on and scrubbed those too. Just wiped clean with a microfiber cloth. All while using a small, but new, toothbrush. I will definitely buy this again. 10 out of 10
