I absolutely LOVED this book.It brought up all the feelings that made me remember what I love about Christmas giving gifts knowing that you gave the recipient the right gift that is going to make them smile. And even though there were no pictures it made me think of Christmas decorations, music and the holiday shows that I can't get enough of during the holiday season. I am willing to confess that I even got a little choked up reading this book because of the sentiment it brought up.This book is a must read for the holidays.

This is a great book with a lot of historical fiction (about New York City) and some mythological fiction about Santa and his traveling companion, Pete. There is some historical reference to Pete and of course, the man who is believed to be inspiration for the real Santa. I would recommend this book for children of all ages. It's sweet, it's charming, and it has a lot of character. Highly recommended. Rated PG for theme (but really, it's G because it's great for all ages).

This book, Santa and Pete, was our bookclub's Christmas selection 2016. This book is best described as historical accurate yet told from the perspective of a child looking back on his family Christmas miracle(s). Upstate New Yorkers with any interest in Manhattan and lower Upstate NY may really enjoy adding this book to their collection.

A nice take on the old Dutch idea of Celebration of Sinterklass and Black Peter. This time brought up to date in with a view to making the concept work in semi current New York while respecting African American views. Not everyone will approve but it is an interesting reading. You will have to be the judge.

A wonderful Christmas story of a Grandfather to his Grandson. It tells the story of Sinterclausen & Black Peter which is celebrated in France & the Netherlands. It is also the history of their family. It does not matter what ethnic group you belong too, it is a wonderful story.

Returning the book… this book was listed with Christopher Moore of Lamb, Dirty Job, and Sacre Blue fame… not co-authored by him at all.. his picture was mysteriously not pictured with the other author.. deception… all the way.. would give a zero if I could.

I purchased this audible book while on a road trip. I am a HUGE fan of the "other" Christopher Moore . . you know, the totally slapstick, hilarious, irreverent one with the propensity for the bizarre and foul of mouth. I settled in for a long drive, and was charmed beyond belief. I actually had to stop and pull over and do some research (this COULDN'T be the Christopher Moore that I have known and loved through many bizarre tales that feature demons, talking bats and the childhood friend of Jesus). What I quickly found was a completely different Christopher Moore and this amazing story telling of "Santa and Pete" I don't know what I enjoyed more, the story line or the narrators gentle, quiet voice in the telling of this tale. What I DO know is that I discovered, quite by accident, a new family favorite . . both in book form and audio book form that I hope will be a part of my family Christmas traditions for many, many generations. I am totally in love with this tale. Do NOT pass it up. You will be delighted, humbled and charmed by it. Good job "other Christopher Moore" . . . you made a fan for life
