My books are in storage, which doesn't make for easy reading, so I ordered an inexpensive set of the novels to reread. I'll be glad to get the other set back, because the font these new ones are printed in is clear but somehow not easy to read. If you are after scholarly commentary or background information, this is not the set for you - it's the novels and only the novels. But, after all, it IS Jane Austen. This is a nice version for Kindle. It has a great navigable table of contents. It does not have the Watsons and a few other more obscure writings, but it does have Lady Susan which another reviewer said it did not have. It also has a few early letters. Jane Austen is a skilled observer of human nature and has a keen ear for dialogue. I love her writings for their comments on human nature and relationships, and the snappy dialogue. Happy to have her almost-complete works on my Kindle. I think it will satisfy most readers. ... show more

I would not recommend this Jane Austen bookset. They arrived in half opened wrap, scuffed up. They have a strong disturbing chemical smell causing coughing and watery eyes. :( Also, there are dark brown tar splotches in the print -see attached image. :( The paperback cover illustrations are cute, same as advertised. The novels all seem to be unabridged, which is what I was looking for. ... show more

My thinking was this: I could download each of the Austen novels one at a time, but heck, for $.89 I could just download them all at once. Sadly, there is NO index, no search function and the fonts and formatting are different in each book. I hate the idea that I feel ripped off when I paid less than a buck, but... I feel ripped off. Go download the free stuff and give a buck to a homeless person or something. You'll feel better about the parting. ... show more
