  • Very impressed for use on my first tattoo Very impressed for use on my first tattoo
Size: 6 x 8 Inch (3 Sheets)
I've been nothing but impressed with my experience using Saniderm on my first tattoo. It was fairly easy to apply but upon my first try unwrapping a new piece myself, the wrong side of the adhesion came off instead of the paper and I had to throw that piece away. So be careful pulling it apart and make sure it's the right piece coming off. I will also say I wish I had measured it to fit the design before applying it. Looking at it as a sheet, I didn't think I needed to trim any off but as soon as I applied it to my arm, it was way too big and almost wrapped around my whole forearm. It was fine though, I fixed it by sticking the corners on counter and using scissors to trim it to size, leaving 1 inch between the edge of the Saniderm and the design, without much difficulty. And take Saniderm's advice, round your corners because they aren't very comfortable on the skin when pointed. First & Second Layer: My artist applied the first layer. It stayed on perfectly overnight and the edges weren't coming loose at all. I also had some ink underneath that I was worried about leaking but there was absolutely none. It stayed right where it rose out of the skin. And it was so light that I honestly didn't even feel like I was wearing anything. I removed this first layer after 24 hours in the shower under lukewarm water. The water did not cause it to come off prematurely, it only came off once I started pulling on the edge to remove it so it absolutely holds up. Still don't go swimming with it on though. The water definitely helped ease it off once I was pulling on it though and it didn't hurt at all, which I'm sure it would if I attempted it dry. I cleaned it with unscented antibacterial soap, pat dried it and gave it about 5 minutes to breathe and air dry for good measure. You want your skin to be completely dry before applying Saniderm so it doesn't mess up the adhesion or trap unnecessary liquid underneath. This is when I learned, as I mentioned above, to measure your Saniderm beforehand. It also takes a bit of focus to apply "nicely". My first time applying it here, I trapped a few tiny air pockets. They're pretty much harmless but you can *gently* push them to the sides to get them out. Second & Third Layer: I kept my second layer on for 6 days. It stung a little bit when I built up a light sweat outside (wearing long sleeves in warm weather to keep it protected from the sun sucks lol) but that makes sense since it's technically a bunch of micro open wounds. The sweat made the edges of Saniderm a tiny bit itchy, but I only noticed it if I was focusing on it and looking for the feeling. As soon as I cooled off, it didn't take it long to go away. The sweat did not make the edges start to peel. It was still holding up perfectly. I removed and cared for it the same way that I did the first layer. Water, soap, dry, Hustle Butter, Saniderm. Third Layer & Following Days: I also kept the third layer on for 6 days and removed it the same as the other layers. I only experienced about 3 days so far (as in since day 1 of having my tattoo) of very minor itchiness from the tattoo. It also hasn't been peeling and very very minimal scabbing to the point it's nearly impossible to see unless you get extremely close to look at the tattoo. Since this is my first tattoo and first experience with Saniderm, I can't say whether Saniderm is to thank for the minimal discomfort and "pretty healing" or not. But I definitely think it's playing a part. Within 24 hours after my third and final piece of Saniderm was removed and not replaced with another piece, I noticed very minimal peeling. And the next two days (including today while writing this review) slightly more but still very minimal peeling and scabbing. In pictures, it's difficult to even notice unless it's an extreme close up. As I said above, since this is my first tattoo aftercare experience, I don't know if it's a coincidence that it's starting to peel now that I'm not wearing Saniderm or if the Saniderm was preventing it from getting to the peeling stage. My next tattoo I might experiment and apply a fourth piece just to see if the peeling is delayed or if it starts around this time of the healing process regardless of whether I'm wearing Saniderm or not. I'm keeping my skin nice and hydrated and moisturized and there's still no itching at all. So overall, 10/10. I'm very very satisfied and I will 100% be purchasing Saniderm for all of my future work. It held up very well, protected my fresh ink from friction, protected my sheets and clothes from leakage, and kept the hydration in and the tattoo clean while still allowing oxygen exchange so it could breathe. I tried to take consistent pictures every day specifically for this review because looking for appropriate aftercare products was slightly overwhelming as a someone about to get their first ink. There's so many opinions out there, often with photos only from the beginning or the end of the process and I always wanted to see the middle of the process too. So I hope anyone out there looking for the right product for themselves finds this helpful! :) ... show more

  • *Edited review* I was wrong about saniderm
Size: 8 x 10 Inch
5 star review. I highly recommend this product as it helps give you a minimal maintenance way of healing your tattoo! I had to update my previous review. We all have been instructed to use this incorrectly and here's why. The artist just finished your tattoo, puts on the saniderm immediately then tells you to keep it on for 24 hours. After the first 24 hours you're instructed to take it off, clean the tattoo, let dry then add a new piece of saniderm and keep it on for up to 5 days. This is not the way. The reason being is due to the plasma build up. Excessive plasma will cause you to get irritation and/or infection. The proper way of using this product is once the artist is done, he can place that first piece of saniderm to protect you from bacteria til you get home. Once you're home, take off the saniderm (watch videos on proper removal to avoid damage to your new ink). Let air dry for 30 mins. Then wash with Antibacterial soap and use a healing ointment. I personally do not like ointments so I used Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion Non-Scented (blue bottle). I would wash and moisturize between 5-7 times that same day. Next day when you wake up. Wash your new tattoo with antibacterial soap. Make sure the area is 100% dry. Add saniderm at this time to protect your ink. Keep on for max of 5 days. If you notice you still have major leaking of plasma/ink under the saniderm, take it off completely and heal the tattoo the conventional way. Adding saniderm on the next day is the way!!! The reason is because you want your body to excrete all of the plasma first, you do not want to trap it under the saniderm. I did it both ways and the way I explained above has proved to yield the best results. I hope this helps anyone who's had trouble using this type of product in the past and developed a nasty rash or infection or anyone who's looking to try it out for the first time. Below is my original review. Mind you I wrote that review after following my artists direct instructions and also after receiving instruction directly from Saniderm 's YouTube videos. --------------------------- I got a tattoo on my inner forearm that spans from my wrist to bend of elbow. I bought this due to my tattoo artist wrapping me up in a Derm Shield just after he was done. I was advised to replace the wrap after 24 hours, so naturally I came to Amazon to search for Derm Shield. Unfortunately, all of the Derm Shield listings had a delivery time of over 7 days. So I looked for alternatives and came across this product. This product had a 4.6 out of 5.0 rating. Was cheaper and had same day/next day delivery options. After reading a few reviews, I decided to make the purchase. 20 hours later, I removed the original Derm Shield. Couldn't wait for 24 hours due to springing a leak and a bunch of ink, blood and plasma oozing out. I jumped in the shower and used Hustle Bubbles to wash up. I pat and air dried the tattoo. Then I placed the Saniderm on. 2 hours in with the new Saniderm in place and my wrist became exposed. The adhesive did not hold up more than 2 hours and it wasn't like I was working or using my hand/arm for much. It was Saturday so I was pretty much relaxing the entire day. Then after 10 hours or so of it being on my skin, it started to become uncomfortable around the bend of my arm and a rash started to appear. Since I placed the second layer of this bandage on my own, I figured I may have accidentally placed it on too tight. Figured that was the reason for discomfort. Figured it was my fault for the wrist area coming loose too. I told myself all this to justify why I was experiencing these issues. Well since I ran through the 3 sheets on the first order, I went ahead and placed a second order which came in next day. This time after removing the second wrap prematurely (24 hours), which should have remained on for 3-5 days, I had my girl help me. I immediately jumped in the shower to wash up and used Hustle Bubbles again. I got out, pat dry with clean paper towels and air dried. I had my girl place the 3rd wrap, which is the 2nd Saniderm wrap, and she did amazingly. At first I felt no discomfort. I thanked my girl all the way to the moon for helping me. Then, less than 6 hours go by and the wrap unravels and loosens at the wrist. I had to go to CVS to purchase the Tegaderm bandages, to help reseal my wrist. Which worked like a charm. However 12 hours or so with the Saniderm wrap on my arm and I'm feeling my skin burn. I can legit see my arm turning red on the non tatted areas where the Saniderm touched. The pain became so unbearable I couldn't even make a full 24 hours with the Saniderm before I decided to trash it and remove it completely. Btw, they claim you can workout and take light showers with the Saniderm. You can't. I went to work, which I work as a project manager in construction. I was not over exerting, as I mostly watch and manage. I was sweating and the sweat alone made the Saniderm loose and not stick. I did not have those issues with Derm Shield, I wish Amazon had Derm Shield on same-day/next day delivery back when I needed it. I do not recommend this product at all. It's garbage and would 0 star if I could. ... show more

  • Love this Product! Tattoo Game Changer! Love this Product! Tattoo Game Changer!
Size: 6 x 8 Inch (3 Sheets)
This was my first tattoo and was researching and looking online for customers who used the product, and I loved it so much I wanted to share my experience. I used Numbing cream and applied it two hours before my tattoo and felt no pain. The tattoo artist, David Franco, applied the adhesive and I removed it the next day. Cleaned it with Dial antibacterial foam soap, patted it dry with a paper towel, and then applied a small amount of Tattoo Balm. We cut the adhesive bandage approximately 1 inch bigger all around the tattoo. Placed it on my arm so the adhesive bandage touched the middle first and gently made sure it was adhering. I didn't need to do anything with it for 5 days. I was concerned it was going to be hard to get off, but it wasn't. I took a shower the day before and a little piece started to come up. I took a video of me taking it off. No problem at all. My tattoo looks amazing, and I had no peeling or itching. This adhesive bandage is amazing, and a game changer. I highly recommend it. Because of this product, I'm ready to get another one. It makes the tattoo healing process a breeze. ... show more

  • Amazing for new tattoos!
Size: 8 x 10 Inch
I have incredibly sensitive skin, but this is the only way I will ever heal a tattoo now. It does cost a little bit more than saran wrap, but it keeps it clean and so healthy. I highly recommend the bigger sheets so that you can cut it to adapt to any size tattoo. Just make sure you sterilize your scissors first. And when removing you have to be slow and careful and pull down away from the skin. I watched a YouTube video on how to painlessly remove it. You may have a little irritation around the perimeter, but totally worth it for a perfectly healed (and not completely insufferable healing experience) tattoo. ... show more

  • Excellent for Tattoo Aftercare
Size: 6 x 8 Inch (3 Sheets)
I love this product and have used it in the aftercare of my two most recent tattoo’s. The instructions are pretty clear so I will not repeat them here. I will share some things about the process I wish I had known. I am not a medical professional, but the wrinkles drove me to distraction! So I figured I would share to save another person the same stress I was feeling. 1. The product will likely be irritating to those with a latex allergy, or allergy to adhesives. 2. If applied properly to a highly mobile area (think forearm), it will wrinkle. It will wrinkle so much you will worry it is damaging your ink, you will see literal creases in the skin. Don’t worry, stay calm. The wrinkling is absolutely normal and is caused by a few things, reduction in swelling, movement of the location and drying of the skin under the wrap. Once the Saniderm is removed, your skin will be better able to accept moisture and the wrinkles in the tattoo’d skin will return to normal. Not instantly, but within a day or two, depending on your own moisture and hydration. 3. Saniderm removal really is best done in the shower. The steam and the water do wonders for removal, and any pain. That’s all I’ve got. Good luck to all! ... show more

  • Tattoo healing made easy Tattoo healing made easy
Size: 6 x 8 Inch (3 Sheets)
These are a bit tricky to apply yourself depending on location. The smaller pieces are a little easier. My artist put these sheets on my last tattoo at the end of our session and I replaced them after 24 hours. 2nd application lasted about 2 days before the edges started rolling up. No scabs or peeling or lost ink oozing out over night plus the tattoo is protected from unwarranted touches when you're showing off your fresh ink. The ink is still really vibrant after healing. I didn't have to constantly wash and apply moisturizer which can be a hassle at work. No irritation from clothing rubbing sensitive skin or ink transfer on fabric. The negative reviewers obviously didn't follow instructions..... check the website peoples and don't hate on a good product because you didn't use it as directed! Do not try to RIP these off in a quick motion. Go slowly and gently let it release from the skin or it will be painful to remove. My artist suggested removing it in the shower so the warm water softens the film... it helps. I will definitely be using these again when I go back for the color. Also used the sanibalm after the 2nd film was removed. Great moisturizer that is super easy to apply. Update: 2nd round was easier to apply using a KT tape technique. Fold the paper edges back enough to grip them, apply the center area first. Then slowly remove the paper while guiding the film into place.... do one side at a time. It was easier to control and laid down nicely without a bunch of air bubbles. My artist also suggested applying an additional layer to areas that pull up too soon rather than trying to remove it early. I also applied a very light coat of coconut oil to the tattoo only and let it fully absorb/dry prior to putting on the fresh layer. Im hoping this will help with releasing the film later. I got the idea that the initial application releases easier since there is ointment used during the tattoo process that leaves a bit of residue no matter how well it's cleaned afterwards. *if anyone is interested, my ink was done by Jacob Ferguson at Guru Tattoo in Campbell CA and he uses Saniderm after the initial tattooing plus gives a supply for the second application. ... show more
