I use these in older laptops,\ Customers I have needing an upgrade to a much older laptop usally get this on my recomendation. It's not as expensive as a Samsung drive but it does the job just as well on an older computer that cant really fully take advantage of the speed anyhow. This one went in to an old dell, it did make a fairly significant difference to boot times and usage The customer was very happy, and the price is hard to argue with when you compare the performance to price ratio. An ssd of any kind is hands down the cheapest and fastest upgrade you can do to a computer. They always provide a very obvious performance upgrade. Supper easy to instal on my hp laptop. Had to use f11 for the boot menu When running the windows 10 disk said would delete my win key for my free 10 upgrade kept cycling around had to do custom instal. Once installed logged in with my windows ID and it started to do updates like normal. Super super fast HD was using a 5400 rpm hard drive this thing makes that look like a dying turtle. Got the 120gig one next will be a 240+ gig the write/read time is almost twice as fast. The data to free gigs set the speed rate. Well worth the money for a inexpensive laptop. My first experience with an SSD. Sadly, it only lasted a year, but don't think it was the fault of this SSD. I had a power interruption/surge which damaged both the battery APC backup system ( was 4 year old though) and it killed the SSD drive AND my WD hard disk drive. So I would never use an SSD again unless I had a newer model battery backup for the desktop. The repair technician was amazed that the power interruption/surge killed both my SSD and HDD and took out my battery backup, but did not affect any other component. The best thing about this product is that in addition to this, all you need to buy is a cable, and Casper Backup Software, and you can back up your whole computer system, including windows, applications, apps, files etc., so you have a 100% mirror image of your current drive. So if your current disk crashes, no worries, plug this one in and you are up and running again in less than 5 minutes. And your computer will look exactly the same as before the crash. Truly a plug and play product. Download Casper to your PC, plug in this drive to a USB port, and click on backup. Done. The first time you do a backup, it can take several hours. However after that, the backups only take a few minutes, because it only updates based on the changes since your last backup. Phenomenal set of products. You need no computer knowledge to do this. I have now purchased two of these and both are iron clad. One has been installed on multiple devices, 2 laptops and 1 desktop, without compromise to function, two years old. In each instance the drive was cleaned using "Diskpart" when a device changeover was initiated. I have also installed these on multiple clients laptops/desktops. I have had zero issues, works like a charm on older and newer systems. My second choice, possibly first, would be "Crucial"; I have one that is 4 years old still works like a charm (with 24 hr/ 7days week usage until recently) and it has been installed in 5 different systems - currently being used as a external restore point option. I also have two older SanDisk USB drives and two Sandisk Micro SDHC cards with adapters that have performed to perfection and without exception. Sold on the brand. ... show more

I don't use my laptop much so I have an old one - an IBM Thinkpad T61P. It ran decently with Linux but I wanted to know how much of an obstacle was my SATA 7200rpm mechanical. I have an older laptop, first Gen i7. I used it to run SolidWorks, office suite, internet about 5 years ago till about 2 years ago. I had windows 7 and it was doing ok but upgraded to windows 10, not by choice. I was not using it daily at the time but wow, it took 2 days to start up once after an update. I retired it but never replaced it, just used my work desktop to do what I needed to and occasionally used my wife's laptop, which is a chore because she wants me to ask for permission and is anal about settings or programs! (whatever) Before my engineering days, I was in IT, got my A+ certification (NT) and went to work while trying to go to school. Long story short - I purchased this SolidState Hard Drive to put in my old retired laptop and couldn't be happier! I ditched the windows route and put Linux mint on here. this SOB blazes facebook like a boss! takes 16 seconds to boot up. I wish I could use the software to monitor the health of my drive but SanDisk offers NO support for Linux and there isn't a Wine out for Mint edition yet. This is my first Linux install in ten years or more, so I don't know If I am going to keep it or not. Its so minimal and fast, the hard drive has no reason to kill itself! In the even this pc or the HDD or SSD (lol caught my self) dies after my one year SanDisk warranty expires, I will probably put 3 or so bullets in it! I don't game but I might purchase AutoCad to install on here. So its not in vain... ... show more
