    • Better safety tool for seniors accustomed to wearing a watch!
I am technology challenged and was still able to set up the basic features. My senior loved one uses a mobile phone but doesn't always remember to keep it close. They have also fallen previously and despite having their mobile phone in their hand at the time, were unable to use it to get help. They have always worn a watch so this was a great solution to give everyone peace of mind. They are still learning the hands free features, but this is a less stigmatizing, more cost effective, more natural, and a more overall useful alternative to typical senior safety alert systems. The hard fall detection feature can be set up to notify someone if it detects a fall and can be worn and allow the user to communicate hands free anywhere cellphone service is available, including the shower, without bulky extra equipment or devices one wouldn't ordinarily have. Some safety features can be set up to function automatically by a loved one even without an elderly wearer having to do anything other than charge and wear it. The battery needs to be charged more often (day and a half or so for us) given its advanced features, but it is way less expensive and more effective than alternatives. We got it for the safety tools but it also has health tracking features that are useful for everyone. It appears to have the ability to "find my device" which if set up properly by a caregiver might provide additional safety. I haven't actually tested that feature so do your own research. My mother loves it and I intend to get myself accustomed to wearing a watch so it might help my children's peace of mind later on when I become more fragile. ... show more

    • It really helps me lose weight!
First, it sets up on its own pretty much if you have a Samsung phone. It works great with the Samsung Buds as well. Second, it is more accurate than most and provides a real insight on how much calories you actually burn rather than an estimate. This really helps with a diet. Last, i like the sleep results and it helps figure out deep sleep vs REM vs light sleep. I have to say though that or it is not super accurate, or the average sleeper is pretty bad nowadays! I am not a great sleeper and yet it seems I am usually in the "average" results. On another note, the battery could be better. Mine barely goes through 24h, so I try to charge it once during the day as I like to keep it to check some of my sleep patterns. I assume this depends on your use and the number of active widgets on your watch, draining battery. Overall, a great watch, comfortable to wear (and I usually dislike wearing a watch), works great with Samsung devices. I would buy it again! ... show more

I wish the battery lasted a little longer, I have to charge it every day. I also had to disable a lot of the features to gain more battery time. The app is OK for the setup, I wish I could do setup from the watch and not have to have the phone to do it. There are a lot of featured apps on the watch, but they suck battery power if you enable them all. It was worth the price for me because I fell in my field and was able to use the watch to get help. That's one of the reasons I was attracted to the watch. I can wear it without having my phone on me. I did buy the LTE version that lets me do this. ... show more

    • Only Worked For a Few Months
This is the second Galaxy 5 watch I purchased. After only a few months of use, it started getting lines across the screen then would randomly power up and down then not charge at all and the screen stays blank while it makes a noise and does a short vibration while on the charger. The first watch I had did the same thing after only 2 months. I sent the first one in for service as it was under warranty and had to fight with Samsung because they said it had water damage and it would cost me to repair it. It has a water lock and swim tracking feature. How does it have water damage? I had never even had it in water at any time. After going back and forth, they finally repaired it and sent it back. After a couple months, it died again. Sent it back in and had to fight for a refund. This entire process took 6 months. After getting the refund, I stupidly bought this one from Amazon. Once again, it malfunctioned and did the exact same thing the first watch did after a few months. I avoided dealing with it for 5 months because I just didn't want to fight with them again for a repair or refund. I now sending it back under the warranty and dread having to fight with Samsung again. I did an internet search for Samsung smart watch problems and found so many that are supposed to be able to worn swimming malfunctioned and when sent in were told it had water damage and wasn't covered under warranty because of that. Buyer beware! I've owned Samsung electronics, phones and all my appliances in my home are Samsung. I am so disappointed in this company and having to deal with this situation.
