    • This TV Made Me Excited About Watching Movies Again

The picture on this Samsung S85H is absolutely beautiful. I expected a 65-inch OLED to be impressive, but the difference was more noticeable than I anticipated once I actually started watching movies and shows on it. The combination of deep blacks, bright highlights, rich color, and excellent detail gives the image a tremendous amount of depth. This is a television that makes me want to go digging through my movie collection just to see familiar films again. The black levels are especially impressive. Dark scenes actually look dark rather than washed in that faint gray glow that can happen with other display technologies. Put something bright against a black background and the contrast can be spectacular. Night scenes, space, neon lights, candles, concert stages, and moodier cinematography all benefit tremendously. Details remain visible in shadows without destroying the darkness of the scene. Color is another major strength. It's vibrant and lush, but it can also be surprisingly nuanced. Skin tones look convincing, while intensely colorful movies, animation, nature programming, and games have plenty of punch. There's a richness to the image without everything automatically looking radioactive. I especially appreciate that subtle shades don't seem to get lost simply because the television is capable of producing very bold colors. The 65-inch size is wonderful for movies. It's large enough to fill my field of vision and create a genuinely immersive experience without feeling absurdly oversized for a normal living space. The narrow bezel and remarkably thin OLED panel also keep the television looking sleek. For such a large screen, the physical design doesn't feel bulky or cumbersome. I've also been impressed by how good ordinary content can look. Obviously, not everything I watch is native 4K, and no amount of processing can manufacture detail that wasn't present in the original source. Still, Samsung's upscaling does an excellent job with decent HD material. Older content can look cleaner and sharper without becoming bizarrely artificial, while high-quality 4K material is where the screen really gets to show off. Motion has been smooth as well. Fast-moving scenes remain clear, and the 120Hz capability makes this a particularly appealing television for gaming. With the right console or PC, the combination of OLED response time, variable refresh support, excellent contrast, and a huge 65-inch screen is fantastic. Games with dark environments, dramatic lighting, and colorful effects look especially good. There are plenty of picture settings available if you enjoy tinkering. I definitely recommend spending a little time experimenting rather than assuming the brightest setting is automatically the best. Different content and room lighting can benefit from different choices, and I was able to get the picture looking much more natural to my eyes with some simple adjustments. You can dig much deeper if you want to, but you don't need a degree in television calibration to get a gorgeous picture. The smart-TV side is loaded with features and provides easy access to the major streaming services. There are quite a few menus and options to explore, so it took me a little time to learn where everything lives. Once I became familiar with the interface, everyday navigation was easy enough. Alexa integration is also available if voice control is something you use. Built-in sound is surprisingly respectable considering how thin the television is. Dialogue is clear, and there's enough presence for normal everyday viewing. That said, the picture is so cinematic that I think a good soundbar or surround setup is a natural companion. The built-in speakers are perfectly usable, but the screen is capable of creating an experience that deserves equally impressive audio. What has surprised me most is how often this TV makes me stop paying attention to the plot for a moment and simply admire the photography. A beautifully lit scene can look incredible. Tiny highlights emerge against deep black backgrounds, textures become more apparent, and scenes with dramatic color grading suddenly have an entirely different impact. That also means I've started mentally compiling a ridiculous list of movies I need to revisit. Films I've seen numerous times suddenly sound appealing again because I want to know what they look like on this screen. That's probably the best compliment I can give a television. It hasn't merely made watching TV nicer. It has made me excited about watching movies again. This is a gorgeous OLED with outstanding contrast, beautiful color, excellent detail, smooth motion, and enough gaming capability to make it equally appealing beyond movies. It's unquestionably a premium television, but the improvements are things I can actually see while using it rather than features that only sound impressive on a specification sheet. TV was left leaning at the garage door. We did not notice it until neighbor across the street called us at 5pm as we were at home all day. Neighbor said it was delivered sometime in the morning. It was delivered by UPS. We were under the impression it would be delivered to the room of our choice and included unpacking. My husband is not too happy with the picture, not crisp, instructions difficult to get it on line. He is considering returning it. ... show more

I got this beautiful TV to teplace an older 60 inch Samsing TV that we have had for at least 14 years. There is nothing wrong with the TV we've had, we were just ready for something a bit bigger with a few more features, like 4K capabilities and this one definitely is all of that, and more! I have been hesitant to replace ours because it has one of the truest black in it's images that I've seen in a while and hadn't seen one with as stunning of a picture as it has, that is until I got a full view of this one! I wasn't too sure about the OLEDs in the past, but after looking around a while I thought to take the chance on this one and I am not a true believer in OLEDs! The picture quality is just stunning and vibrant! As can be seen in the video I've posted, the colors just pop and the transitions are smooth without being to motion-like or fake looking! The 4K picture is brilliant and detailed! Watching the world cup on this TV has been gone changing and mind blowing, it's like I've never watched a real match before! The setup, right out of the box was very easy and quick! We have other Samsung TVs that have the tizen OS, so I'm a bit familiar with the functionality, but this one has clearly been updated from what I'm used to and I can't get over how quick and smooth it functions and moves though the apps and app load time is incredibly quick! It connected to my wifi easily and the Smart Things app was very easy to setup, which is another bonus abiut this TV! The smart things app is great in offering additional controls and connectivity capabilities to our existing Alexas! It's so awesome to be able to tell Alexa to turn on or off the TV, pause/resume the TV or even launch an app! In doing some reading on these, I have learned that this is considered a "mid tier" class of atV, but it sure doesn't operate or perform like a "mid tier", at all! Now, out of the box, the picture is great, but I did watch a couple of easy tobfind YouTube videos that detailed the best settings to optimize the performance and I'm so glad I did as it made it so much better! The sound quality is actually quite good out of the built in speakers, but we were able to easily connect to our existing Samsung soundbar, which automatically allowed us to control the volume with the TV remote! Overall, I couldn't be happier with this TV! I wish I would've made the jump to an OLED sooner and taken advantage of the 4K channels offered through out directv package!
