I had to replace a 40-year plus Tappan cook top during a semi-remodeling. This model (plus one other brand} was the only cooktop with a height that would fit my counter...all other brands were too tall. I did have to cut the opening on the counter for the Samsung to fit. The unit is very nice looking and works well for my needs. Easy cleaning of spills due to the desgn. Only complaint I have is on the cast iron grates. These suckers are VERY heavy and I can see where a person of smaller muscles could struggle with lifting them during cleaning. Also, not sure the grates are designed so far up from the flames. This is a good stove top overall. Easy to clean and provides good even heat. While I didn't purchase through Amazon, I do feel people need to be warned about one issue. The control knobs are made of cheap plastic and are cracking within a few years use. I contacted Customer support and they basically blew me off telling me to go purchase new ones. Obviously, the poor design will only bring me back again when those fail. Maybe two years is too long for me to expect them to survive, but one would assume a stove top costing $700.00 would have components that would last a wee bit longer. I give the stove top an overall high rating, but customer service I give 1-star. ... show more
