  • G Track Pro Compatible (w/ effort)
No one really supports the G Track Pro condenser mic officially, so I took a chance with this shockmount after looking at reviews and browsing numerous forums. The mount itself seems well put together, but the paint finish on the metal pieces leaves a little to be desired. It makes the mount look cheap, when it is in-fact very sturdy. This thing does not give. As I mentioned before, the G Track Pro is not officially supported, but it does fit. After 20 minutes of intense frustration, I just took the knobs off the G Track Pro and slid the mic in to screw it on. With a careful touch and flathead screwdriver, this is extremely painless. Once I had installed it into the mount, I put the knobs back on the mic. It is important to note that the microphone will not be perfectly aligned with anything on the mount. It must sit in-between the inner supports to actually fit once you’ve screwed it on. This looks a little funny, but ultimately doesn’t matter. The sound I get is much better as it doesn’t pick up my mouse on the desk as much, and certainly isolated the desk moving or any other weird thing that can move the mic while playing a game or using it to record music or other audio. With a careful hand you can take your G Track Pro from the desk to a mic arm and really elevate your audio for a stream or for studio recording. I recommend the product completely once I overcame that initial barrier. ... show more

  • VERY good for isolating a mic (used for an H2n)
I used this to create a shockmount for my Zoom H2N which I used for many years for audio books, trainings, etc. The trick for mounting an H2N in this is you just need to go to the hardware store and pick up some rubber and metal fender washers and a good 1/4" screw that fits. After that, you can easily mount the H2n, windscreen and even a USB cable or so to it. The benefit? Well, it's pretty substantial as long as you do it correctly (ie, nothing is touching the mic that is directly coupled to the stand). The benefit is that if you accidentally hit your stand or if something is vibrating the desk or stand, that it won't translate into your audio nearly as much as if it were directly mounted to the stand or whatever. To best demonstrate the difference, once you have it setup. Put the mic in the mount and then tap the stand with your fingers. If the mic is suspended correctly, you'll hear the sound probably, but then make one change. Take a pen or something that's solid and connect the mic to the stand. You don't even have to make a "great" connection between the two. Then, simply tap the stand the same way again. You'll notice in the recording that the tapping is SIGNIFICANTLY louder in the one without the mount whereas the tapping with the mount might very well be impossible to hear at normal volumes. This will prevent jarring sounds in your audio and is most useful in "live" or "near live" recordings where you're not going to be able to go back and correct mistakes or whatever. If nothing else, it looks cool, so if you're looking for that - well, here ya go :) There aren't really any problems with it, so 5 stars! ... show more

  • good inexpensive shock mount
works great. much better build quality and more absorption than the cheap $10-15 generic chinese shockmounts on amazon. the finish isn't perfect around where the joints on the metal are, but for the $ you cant beat it. i'm going to paint it to match the rest of my setup anyway, so a little sanding to get it perfect is no big deal. my AT2020 rotates/spins freely in it when fully tightened to the base. if you want to prevent this and keep the microphone from spinning you need to install one of these into the base before mounting the microphone: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K88Q7LS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 this ring fits perfectly, looks factory, prevents movement of the mic, and is rubber so it wont scratch the base or microphone. ... show more

  • Superior shockmount, fantastic price!
I don't think I can say enough good things about the Samson SP01 Shockmount. Long story short I was trying to get a podcast going from scratch about three months ago. I did some research and discovered that a shockmount is necessary to keep any noise from anything securing the mic from being picked up by the mic while recording. A shockmount is an absolute must, especially when looking at using a tabletop mic stand where the table will also be used as a work surface. The build quality is fantastic. I just recently purchased my THIRD shockmount for an additional mic to be used on the podcast. What I've grown to appreciate so much is that it seems to fit just about any condenser microphone I can get my hands on. If you are considering buying this for your own condenser mic, make absolutely sure that your mic has threads on the bottom to be screwed into some type of stand or shockmount. Nearly all do, but some companies like Blue (Snowball, snowflake, etc.) are designed not to be used in conjunction with shock mounts. I have used the MXL 007.USB with this shockmount as well as the AT2020 USB and XLR version. The MXL fit like a glove, perfect. The AT2020, once threaded in, seemed just a bit loose, so I added a couple foam bumpers around the base to act as a washer. It made a tight fit and further insulated it from any sound interference from any movement. In short, I haven't found a better shockmount for condenser mics. The attachment screws onto any desktop tripod and traditional mic stand. Fantastic. Buy two of these!! :) Thanks Samson, now just make better mics! ... show more
