  • Need a quality boom at an amazing price? Here it is.
Size: 38" Style: Arm
Just got it. On time and in perfect condition. This mic boom is solid, not a flimsy external spring model. If you have a bit of experience soldering you can run your cable in the outer most tubes and have a super clean looking boom. I just cut a mic cable I already had and ran the cable through the square tubing. I then soldered a 90 degree (right angle) neutrik xlr female on the end and it looks and works fantastically. This boom arm can easily support your studio mic and it will look great on your desktop. Pros: 1 Well made, not flimsy. 2 Comes with two different mounting solutions and can accommodate thick desktops. 3 The boom is stiffer compared to my cheaper boom and that is welcome. It moves easily but stays firmly in place. 4 There is a way to run a cable internally but some soldering will be required. Once complete it is very clean looking. 5 Silent adustment 6 Great reach and easy to get out of the way. Cons: 1 I didn't buy this first! 2 Not much info is available on youtube about it but I will make a vid once I get my desk cleaned up. PS: Unless you are looking for something really high dollar this boom is more than adequate for pro or hobbyist use. UPDATE: Still very very happy with this boom arm. Works perfectly and I use it everyday! Great job Samson! ... show more

  • How is this not the best-selling boom arm on Amazon?
Size: 38" Style: Arm
It's unthinkable to me that this boom arm isn't the best selling on Amazon. The $20 garbage arms (Neewer, etc.) are a waste of money. The quality on this thing is on another level and it's like $25-30 more. Everything about it, the silent operation, the finish, the look, it screams QUALITY. Samson, get this product on Prime shipping and start promoting it NOW. Oh yeah, the C-Clamp opens 3" so the official product description, even the description on their website is inaccurate. ... show more

  • Solid as a rock!
Size: 38" Style: Arm
I have been radio for 30 years and I could not tell you how many times I had to slowly sink into my chair because the mic boom was slowly sinking. Now I have my own production studio and i wanted a solid boom microphone stand that didn't cost $100 or more. I found this one and decided to take a chance. It came today and I attached it my desk. The clamp is huge and you could easily attach it to a 2X4. I use pretty heavy mic (Shure sm7b). Not sure what it weighs, but probably about 2 pounds. It not only holds the mic steady, you have to pull down the cross bar if you want to lower the mic. I am super satisfied with this stand. Way better than I thought it would be, and I paid $49.00 for it and got free shipping. I highly recommend this stand. ... show more

  • Others Had Better Watch Out!!
Size: 38" Style: Arm
DISCLAIMER: I am a verified purchaser of this product, and I have in no way been compensated, or received any benefit from Amazon, the manufacturer or any other party for the review I have written. A Word of Caution: Be very careful when you are reading posted reviews. I have found that some people are mistakenly reviewing products other than the one featured. This can be very confusing when you are trying to decide on a product. When reading, if you find that the details they are describing in their review don't seem to make sense, or match up with the product you are researching, it could be that they are actually reviewing the wrong product, and YOU could potentially miss out on a great one. Now, with that out of the way . . . THIS THING IS GREAT!! The first thing I noticed when I first picked up the box was how heavy it was. Once I opened the box, I could understand why. This is no flimsy, cheap aluminum microphone boom! It has heft, girth and feels solid. You don't at all have to worry that it'll come apart in your hands under normal usage. In fact, you'll probably break your desk before you break this boom (more on that later). It is taller and longer than most other booms in the same price range, thus giving you countless positioning options. I love the fact that all of the mechanical components of this unit (springs, bolts, etc.) are hidden from view. It gives the boom a very sleek, if not elegant look. You can even route the mic cord through the inside of the frame if the point of connection is small enough on at least one end of the cable. I could not do this because my microphone's USB-A plug was too large, and the USB-C end has a cable interference resistor attached. I zip-tied the cable neatly along the framework, and (IMHO) it is hardly noticeable). Either way, you could expect to pay much more for this kind of styling and functionality. Others have commented on the fact that the boom tension is very tight. To that, I will say: "THE BOOM TENSION IS VERY TIGHT!!" You will work your biceps nicely to reposition it. I first tried loosening the hex screw at each joint position, but this had no effect. I then took a chance and applied a touch of WD-40 to the spring positions (see photos), and then worked it out a bit. After a couple of flexes, it began to loosen up to the point I was not fearful of damaging my desk in the process. AUTHOR DISCLAIMER/WARNING: DO NOT OVER-LUBRICATE!! If you do, it'll just automatically straighten out and stand erect, and it'll be impossible to keep the upper arm in any fixed position. You may also potentially void any warranty. The manufacturer-provided clamp is hefty and sturdy. But, this also made it a bit too bulky for my taste. I chose to use the screw-mount option also provided by the manufacturer. If you choose to mount directly to the top of a desk or counter, I would not recommend screw-mounting to anything other than a solid surface (at least 1.5" thick) using the 1" screws provided. A previous reviewer also stated that they'd ruined their IKEA desk top as a result of the tight tension of boom arm. Fortunately, I'd read this before I bought it since my desk is also from IKEA. Personally, I found the overall footprint of the mounting base (2.25" diameter) to be a bit small given the size of the boom arm itself. Considering the height, weight and the aforementioned tension of the entire assembly, I replaced the three 1" screws provided with three #10 machine screws with matching nut and 1.25" dia. washer. So far, it is holding up VERY well. Although, I did still find myself grasping the base with one hand whenever I moved the boom forward or backward horizontally, ESPECIALLY until the boom tension had eased a bit. It would be cool if the manufacturer supplied a screw/nut/washer set (or pre-drilled 3-holed underside plate) to give you one more way to firmly secure the base. All in all, the Samson MBA38 rivals anything out there. For the price, you can't go wrong. I'm glad I took a chance on the underdog. This dog CAN hunt!! PROS: - Professional quality at a budget price - Solid construction - Sleek and aesthetically pleasing design - Easy to install - Multiple installation options - Great range of motion CONS: - Boom Arm tension coming from the factory is EXTREMELY tight - Desk clamp is very bulky - A machine screw/nut/washer assembly or underplate would be more secure for desktop mounting ENJOY!! ... show more

  • Perfect broadcast arm without PSA1's limitations
Size: 38" Style: Arm
The best microphone arm that works with a wide range of microphones. Unlike the RODE PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arm , the Samson broadcast boom works with lighter microphones. I use mine with the Audio-Technica AT875R Line/Gradient Shotgun Condenser Microphone and a Nady SSPF-3 - Microphone Spider Shockmount With Integrated Pop Filter . It stays put wherever you move it, even without a microphone attached. I'm glad my research into the PSA1 revealed that shortcoming before I ordered. It comes with two low profile velcro straps for cable management. You may want to find extra if you want a very neat set up. ... show more

  • Didn't realize it comes with an AWESOME permanent stand!
Size: 38" Style: Arm
I just screwed that sucker right into my table, haha! Sturdy as it gets. Now it can swivel, too! Whole arm is extremely sturdy and will hold just about any mic you can throw at it. I'm SO glad I looked around and didn't settle for the other $15 ones. Dealing with an arm that would eventually slide down from mic weight, and have springs exposed all over the place, just sounds like issues I don't want to deal with at all. If you are thinking about this mic arm, go for it. I highly suggest it. They even added 2 little velcro strips to tie down the mic cord against the arm. ... show more
