  • Awesome
Color: Awning: 6.6ft x 10ft, 66ft²
This awning works fantastic for such a great price! I honestly was fully prepared for it to be reasonably decent if annoying, but I used it nearly every day on my beach vacation. You just unzip the bag, unroll the awning, unfold and extend the legs, unfold and extend the horizontal bars and slot them in place, then there's Velcro to tie the awning edges to the horizontal bars and tent line and rent stakes for tie downs. It holds up amazingly well, was a great shade, and I was able to regularly set it up and take it down by myself. It'll mount to any roof rack, but the directions do want you to drill holes in your roof bars to then bolt the L brackets onto that hold the awning to the vehicle. I didn't really want to do that, so I actually used heavy duty zip ties (4 per bracket, each zip rated for 75lbs). I would recommend getting some basic hardware and simply making some clamps to attach the brackets to the car. ... show more

  • great awning
Color: Awning: 6.6ft x 8.2ft, 54ft²
This awning is awesome. Very well made. It is easy enough for one person to put up and take down, obviously it would be best with two people. This awning withstood 30+ mph gusts of wind in the high desert off of 395. I used two sacks filled with rocks to keep the poles supported. (Bought them on amazon.) Love the way the poles twist to lock, usually this style hates me, but these are really great and easy. The material is a good solid strength rip-stop. Glad I bought it, nice price too. ... show more

  • Prime day surprise
Color: Awning: 8.2ft x 10ft, 82ft²
While my expectations were not set very high being a prime day deal, I was very pleasantly surprised with the build quality. I needed a replacement for the awning on my van. The original one from 25ish years ago, broke the gear mechanism to wind it out. Due to age repairing was not possible. Similar awnings required a leg support being attached at the bottom of the van for support. I did not want to drill new holes for supports. It did take some pretty significant modification using pieces from the old awning to give a surface to bolt the new awning to. Once the surface was created, it was very easy to install. It's rather lightweight and I'm worried about it's strength in the wind. I use the van to tailgate at football games in the fall/winter and I may not be able to use it on days with not so great weather. It also definitely takes 2 people to set up and take down. The smaller sizes you might be able to do by yourself though. It is very easy to setup though. I was hoping to not have to use guy lines just cause of the hazard, but I don't think it's heavy enough to stay in place. Overall, I think it was a great value but it took 2 months to get delivered. Easy to install and setup. Seems pretty sturdy but lightweight and uses Velcro to secure the fabric. I would have given it 5 stars if delivery was faster and there was more pictures in add showing how it's mounted. ... show more

  • Well made and easy to use.
Color: Awning: 4.6ft x 8.2ft, 37ft²
Seems well made and easy to set up. I have set it a few times with no problems and it fits my Jeep perfectly. I will be buying another one, there may be others out there for a little less but I know I can count on this working with no problems.

  • It does the job.
Color: Awning: 8.2ft x 8.2ft, 67ft²
It isnt the most stable awning but when set up properly it works as it should. It does fold and wrap up nicely into its storage bag. I used it on a popup camper and I am happy with the price!

  • Quality item. Well constructed.
Color: Awning: 6.6ft x 8.2ft, 54ft²
I bought the Samout to replace a broken Yakima awning. I just about lost my mind when I saw how much Yakima wants for their garbage awning. 600 bucks?! No thanks. When I got this awning, it bolted right up to my Yakima rack with no issues. We took it out for a maiden 4 day camping trip. First thing I noticed is the poles and twist locks are 100 times nicer than Yakima’s. Easy to lock and unlock. The fabric of the awning is almost identical to the Yakima brand. The real difference is where this awning really shines. The support poles have thick inserts. Much thicker than the Yakima inserts. The Yakima inserts bent after only a couple times out and were difficult to bend back properly. The guy lines are sturdy and the package comes with all you need to tie it down firmly. It also packs 100 times easier than the Yakima version. The case is larger and therefore makes it much easier to wind the awning in and zip up. Yakima made it so tight, if you didn’t wind the awning up just perfectly, you had to pray you didn’t break the zippers trying to close the whole thing up. There are also three Velcro holders inside the case as opposed to only two with Yakima. All around, the price point and quality of this awning absolutely DESTROYS the ridiculously priced name brand. It’s a no-brainer. ... show more

  • Not bad for the money
Color: Awning: 6.6ft x 10ft, 66ft²
I realize in hindsight, that in every photo I saw of a rooftop awning; it is deployed straight outwards from the mount. I assumed the side arms would swing out AND down to lower the awning like an RV type - such is not the case as can be seen in the photos. It seems as though all of the rooftop type awnings are built in this fashion so I have edited my review to reflect that. Furthermore, the telescoping aluminum poles have a cam inside of them to lock them, what you may think is a jam nut is only a trim cap, you must twist the inner pole to lock the length of pole. I wrongly assumed the trim nut was a jam nut. The awning itself was of high quality and not damaged in any way or missing any pieces even though I purchased "scratch and dent" from Amazon. (the box was dinged up a bit) I would give this five stars except for what I consider to be a design flaw [for my application]. I believe the side arms, at least, should swing out as well as up and down. ... show more
