These pens are fantastic! If you’ve never used them before and are expecting them to be like ordinary pens - they’re not, they’re much better. Some things I’ve found necessary to get the best continued use out of them is to use my fingernail to gently scrape off the dried gel ink from the previous use to allow it to run freely. Also, they perform better with a lighter touch - don’t try to push down hard, just let them glide across. The ink may look thin while wet, but dries solid when you use this method - these are wonderful, and as long as you’re using them on something that you give proper time to dry, they’re wonderful! I just love my souffle pens, enough that I have them on subscribe and save. The ink is opaque and fairly permanent, with a slightly chalky texture when dry. The flow is lovely. The nib allows it to come out at a steady rate, and although it is controllable, it feels like it's just flowing. It had a high surface tension, and doesn't really absorb into the paper, so it gives the impression of puddling; that is how they get their dimensional quality. A few things to be aware of: if you go over water soluble ink, it will pick up a little bit of the color. It is difficult to layer over it because of the chalky texture. After they are opened (the protective wax tip removed) if they are not used for a while the ink in the tip will dry out, but scribbling on some scratch paper will usually fix it. ... show more

They do not show up as well as I would have expected on dark cardstock. Might would better on non-porous surfaces. Not as 3Dish as I thought they would either. I will keep them but disappointed

I absolutely love these pens. The 3d effect from them popping off the paper is so neat. I've used them to do watercolor resists since they're waterproof with really neat effects. Just love them!

They write smoothly. I use them for gel pen art. They are like using a paint pen that can do tiny detail work. I don't think there are any other gel pens that work as well as these do, or last as long either. I have had some of my less popular color pens for years and they still work. The colors I use often last me three drawings at least before they run out and even then they run out to the very last drop, not almost to the end of the pen like some there gel pen brands do. ... show more

These are really good, they give texture to stuff because they slightly puff up after they dry! They run out of ink quickly though, depending how you use them.
