I couldn't tell you if it works well or not. I ordered one, it arrived broken and in numerous pieces. I ordered a replacement, which was shipped better and in styrofoam, but was still broken. I returned it and spent another $20 to get a Birds Choice brand fountain. Save your money and buy a quality fountain. ... show more

Really nice concept and great for outdoor bird baths but only lasted 4 months before the pump died despite keeping it clean. I am replacing just the pump for much less than I paid for the set.

First, I have this in a large plant tray on wheels, about 16" across and 5 inches deep, and my colony of wild birds here in central Texas (migratory pathway to north America and Canada) love it for drinking and for "washing up", even though we are but 50 yards from a 66-mile long lake. I have resorted to a copper disc in the water, to help reduce the algae, but the surface of the hollow "rock" is rough enough that algae clings in the roughness and I find the need to take it to the sink and SCRUB it in soapy water with a stiff brush about once every couple of weeks. I combined this pump with the top part of another pump, and the result is great judging from my birds' behavior. While I understand the notion of using a fake rock, in a bird bath having a smoother surface would be preferred. It DOES keep the fountain from tipping over which is great. Good value for the money, low cost for the pump power, as long as you clean the intake of the pump it has great water flow, setting it up was simple and easy. I have put it on a Z-wave timer so it stops at sundown and turns on at sunrise. I would buy this again. If the rock was as smooth as the rocks in my favorite rivers (Nueces, Frio, and Sabinal) I would have given 5 stars. ... show more
