This car seat is great for growing kids. It's comfortable, and I believe it will do a good job keeping my child in place in the event of sudden changes of direction. The 5 point harness is key in keeping the baby in place, however I am a little surprised at there being no restraining bar for added support, like a roll cage. This is a great car seat for a second car, or if you use ride share services around town. It's easy to setup and will last you for quite some time. I've owned several carseat brands over my 14 years of being a mother, this being my first by Safety 1st. It's definitely a budget friendly option. You can trust that it is safe because all carseats must pass the same safety standards to be sold. However, this is probably the least padded/comfortable car seat I've owned for my kids thus far. The "padding" is quite thin and you can feel the hard plastic underneath. The button that allows you to tighten/loosen the straps is a pain to reach. The buckles are plastic and even though I know they're safe (because they have to be), it just personally feels cheap to me. It does have a pad that goes behind the head, but it does nothing to prevent my child's head from falling in an uncomfortable way if she falls asleep. In my opinion, I would personally pay a bit more for a more comfortable seat, but this seat works great for families on a budget. ... show more

Overall, this car seat is lightweight and affordable, but I feel that it is a stretch to say this would be good for a newborn. The car seat just feels a bit large for a baby that small, even with an insert. I think I prefer the standard infant car seat until baby reaches a certain age/size. All that being said, the car seat works well for older babies/toddlers. It functions as both a front and rear facing seat which is really nice and extends the life of the seat. The seat is very lightweight, which is a plus if it is going to be handled a lot. The padding wasn't super plush, but it does the job. We just had our second little boy a few months back. I have been in the market for a new car seat since the one we have is pretty worn out from constant usage from our current son. When I saw this one pop up in my feed, I knew this would make a perfect addition to our car. The car seat itself is perfect. It is easy to install and take out as needed if I need to clean the car and especially if there are crumbs from food and snacks. It has a couple of different harness positions that I can use as my little buddy grows into a toddler. I really like this car seat! I like that it's going to grow with my kiddo; it allows use by a child of 5 to 40 pounds, so it's going to be good to use for a couple years at least, hopefully! It's easy to install, though the instructions could be more clear, it's pretty straight forward. The seat seems pretty sturdy, comparable to other car seats I've owned in the past. The padding is soft and has a nice cushion to it. The cup holders are integrated into the seat in a way that they won't come off easily, which hasn't always been the case for me with these kinds of car seats.
