Bought this for my mom's wheelchair...she forgets to put on brakes before attempting to stand. My husband is very mechanically inclined, can almost install/fix anthing. But the install of this device on my mom's wheelchair gave him fits. When she tried it out It seemed to work...at first...on a recent visit to my mom's I noticed that one of the brackets is loose so brake only works on one side. This works great to keep the wheelchair from moving backwards when my mom stands up. She had been falling because she forgot to put on the brakes and then she would fall when it slipped out from behind her. The only thing I didn't realize was when this is attached, the wheelchair is no longer foldable. So we had to get another wheelchair to use to move in and out of the car. But I still highly recommend this for people who forget to use the brakes to help avoid falls ... show more

Complex assembly. Est. assembly time 20 - 50mins. Ideally you would want two adjustable crescent wrenches (smaller is better). I used a set of mini/slim wrenches that were idle for the small parts. Bolt heads as small as 1/4 inch. I would highly recommend an extra set of hands too.
