Description

The SAFAVIEH Natural Fiber 525 collection weaves sisal into a bordered field in cream, a coastal modern rug that gets its character from the fiber rather than a pattern. Each piece is power-loomed at a 3/8" weave, firm and textural underfoot and low enough to clear a door. Sisal is among the hardest wearing plant fibers, but it is a flat weave: sweep rather than vacuum, and blot spills at once because the fiber darkens where it meets moisture. Natural Fiber 525 suits a living room, bedroom or dining room over wood or tile.

I bought the 2x10 runner and 3x5 in the marble color. I’m very impressed right out of the package. They are thick seem to be very good quality. To be a natural fiber they are pretty soft under foot. They rolled out flat right away. Love the grippy back. I have had to use tape to keep other rugs down but these stay in place very well. They do have a strong smell but to me it’s just a “new” smell and not chemical. I feel like it will dissipate pretty quickly. ... show more

I spent days looking at rugs and went back and forth many times. In the end, I chose this one for it's neutral color and with the hope that it would at once bring together and open up my dining room area. Check and check! It's a very heavy, woven rug that I'm sure we'll get many years out of. And whatever decorative changes I make to the space, it will complement not clash with them. This is a really nice heavy weight rug, comparable to potterybarn style. I placed it in our mudroom where there is high traffic and it has performed perfectly, taking everyday wear and tear from kids running in from our garage area. It's a little rough, but the more it's walked upon, the softer it gets over time.Great for an entryway where you are wearing shoes anyway. The rug is attractive, durable and functional. The back of the rug is covered in a non-slip coating, which works quite well with the high traffic and stays in place. The only caveat is the initial chemical smell. For us, we are just passing through our mudroom, but I would be Leary of the smell if it were placed in a room where you were going to be breathing the chemical smell for prolonged periods of time. Not sure if it is the rug or the rug backing. It does start to go away after a while, but beware if you are sensitive to odors. You might need to leave it out in a garage to air out for a while. This is the only reason O gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase and would buy it again. ... show more

Update 02/2025 I have taken this down to one star. It's been less than three years since purchase and the FIBER SHEDDING IS CONSTANT AND COPIOUS! It's in the living room of a decent-sized one-bedroom apartment, and I swear there is not one inch of my home that hasn't gotten fiber from this rug on it. It makes tumbleweeds in every corner and crevice, it lands on my bedside table, it's in the kitchen, and I'm afraid I've probably been inhaling and or eating smaller bits and so has my cat. I hate this rug. I'd also note that my purchase total was about 30% higher than the current listing. Money down the drain; but I would (and may have to) pay someone to get this hairy beast out of my life (at which point I will have to deep clean every square inch of my home to reset it from this disaster of a purchase. DON'T DO IT. Update 10/2023: the fibers shed and get EVERYWHERE. Not sure I would purchase again; makes a mess throughout the rest of the house. Maybe fine if you are an everyday cleaning kinda person, but…otherwise expect fiber bunnies all over the place. I get this rug to spruce up my living room. It did the trick, looks nice, covered up my worn wood floors. Love that it has a backing and doesn’t shift/move. Lays flat. I would not recommend for small children, as I’ve gotten an occasional splinter on my foot (not frequent, but it happened once and I wouldn’t let a baby or toddler on it). Also if you have pets, be prepared to spend extra time cleaning up any related messes. I have a cat who, like most cats, rushes to a carpeted surface whenever she hurls, and while you CAN get it out, it takes extra time, effort, and a soft scrub brush to do the trick (and I recommend Bissell pro spray cleaner - that stuff is magic). I mostly vacuum with a dyson - suction only - it does take a while to actually look dirty (bonus!). Also watch out for wild variations in pricing. ... show more
