I wasn't sure when It first came. When I unrolled it, it had like a dirt smell but that went away after a few hours, so not to worry. I used this as a base and then placed a colored rug on top of it to provide dimension and add an earthy element and feel to the room. I would definitely recommend. It is sturdy and woven nicely.

The color is spot on and the rug is soft for this type of rug. I have many of these in my home in different sizes and some with fringe and some without. The size is accurate and I'm very happy with the rug. Some mentioned it's rather thick on the edges, but all of these rugs due to the type of sisal used must be turned under so that the rug does not unravel or have fringe where the edges are knotted and tied so the edge is a little thicker. For a sisal rug, it's stretchy and easily shaped if for some reason the rug is not completely square. I shopped this rug from all of the multiple rug sites when you google this particular brand/same rug and Amazon had the most competitive price and free shipping. It arrived sooner than expected and the color of the rug is a really nice change from the typical neutral beige. I will say that this rug is extremely heavy and well made. I also noticed that some of the reviews indicated that there are sticks sticking out of the rug and it's uncomfortable to walk on. This rug is really nice and rather soft for a sisal rug and you might find a few little sticks, but it's part of the fiber of the rug and they are easily removed, but common for this type of material. This is a true gray and the one photo with my Bengal cat appears to be more beige, but it's only the lighting. There were some reviews that indicated it's difficult to vacuum, but I have a Dyson Animal Stick and it's easy to vacuum, but one of the things I love about this type of rug it doesn't ever look like it needs vacuuming. Due to the technique of making the rug, it is not perfect like a wool rug, but that's part of the natural beauty. I love it!

I thought when I bought these that "chunky" referred to yarn thickness, but what you need to know is that you need to have slightly more than 3/4” space between floor and the bottom of any door that you might want to swing over this carpet because the way it is woven, it has a very tall profile. However these rugs are gorgeous and would be perfect for any location where a door doesn’t need to swing over them. These rugs are soft and also reversible in my opinion because they do not have backing. I really wanted these to work but had to return due to the clearance of my door sweeps.

Absolutely love this rug! The colors are as pictured online. Perfect for dogs that love to nap. The jute compliments a suede sofa well and would also pair well with leather. Excellent value for the money.

UPDATE: lasted no more than a year and a half, terrible considering how much the largest cost, $700+ into the trash. Its only beautiful if it doesnt get used. My kids would always complain about feeling itchy after sitting or laying, and thats because the fibers get stuck on your clothes. Sucks its so beautiful, just not functional whatsoever. so here it goes. When you buy a product online, be smart enough to read the reviews before you purchase that product. With that being said, I purchased this rug knowing full well that it would come with dirt and a smell. So what did I do? I opened the package outside, left it there to air out, (but really it didn't smell bad, it smelled like dry grass) and vacuumed it OUTSIDE as well before bringing it into my house. I bought this rug after reading the reviews submitted about it and prepared myself to clean some before I could bring it in. It is that simple. Now that that is out of the way, time for pros and cons. PROS: 1)it is BEAUTIFUL!! and it quite literally goes with almost any type of decor. Believe me. 2) I needed an oversized area rug for my living room, and I luckily stumbled upon this one because it was one of the few to be over 8x10 (which most large rugs Max out at). This is 11x15 and it was perfect. The variety in sizes is really the pro here 3) it honestly feels really good under your feet. 4) did I mention it was beautiful?? CONS: 1) the obvious, maintenance. Yes, mine came with a good bit of dirt, I vacuumed it. Problem solved. 2) you really do have to vacuum it thoroughly, it leaves fibers behind that if you lay on it (like my kids do) it'll stay on your clothes and make you itch. So make sure to vacuum the crap out of it. 3) I'm really not sure how I'm going to clean this guy up. Like I said, I have kids, and for those who do will understand nothing ever lasts clean. I'm guessing spot cleaning will have to suffice. There really is no easy or thorough way to clean it. 4) there will be some sticks in the fibers. Some I pulled out, others I just tucked them under the rug. I stepped on one and it actually hurt so I made sure to get them all before my kids got poked too. Bottom line: I would get this all over again, even considering the maintenance involved. It really is a beautiful rug and I don't know what else could have brought my living room thogether that way. The only reason I give it 4 Stars and not 5, is because of how dificult it will be to deep clean.

I purchased 2 of the 2x10 rugs for my downstairs hallways. At first, the rugs looked great/high quality and appeared durable but after living with them for a few months, they are one of my biggest mistakes in home decoration. First. This is not a soft jute, they are very harsh to our feet at least, the jute knots are very large and are uncomfortable to walk on initially. Second, the grooves of the rug trap all kinds of dirt, dust and everything. They are also very heavy (atleast the version I purchased) so shaking out is a logistical mess. The second piece is the loops are easily caught on everything and easily pull leaving an unhooked mess. One positive is that the brown color is very appealing and hides any visible stains. Overall the product is ok but think about the use of the product before purchasing. If you have a hallway that does not get a lot of traffic, this rug will be fine. But if you’re like me and planning to use it for high traffic areas, I’d think twice.
