This fits perfectly under my round table I use it for my quilting machines. This is darker taupe (brown gray) and light brown (tan or beige not ivory), had hoped it was more medium but it’s dark. It does make a nice contrast to my birch floor and oak table. Yes it’s thin it’s cotton so it should be washable (yes it is, it shrinks 15-20%) more like a towel bath mat like hotels often have (not plush, not as soft) and I’ve got a thicker pad underneath to help keep it flat. I do expect it to snag I’ve got cats but this type of weave I’ve found works better than most, very similar to the one I have from a different vendor in my family room dining table. Like the pattern somehow it manages to be neutral modern casual but not too bold, some texture but blends well. For the price and that it’s washable it’s a must for cats, won’t expect it to last more than a few years. If you want something more traditional it’s not at all like a wool rug! The diamond pattern does seem to not be as soft but it has a firmer structure that’s more like a braided rug in that regard although much thinner. I bought a smaller square version and folded it in half for my bath mat, then use a towel Bath mat (hung in between showers) on top. The pattern has different thickness so I had to fold it so the alternate pattern was underneath because of the thickness difference, it felt uneven as a bath mat which does work well. It is less taupe looking against a taupe (brown-gray) tile, more of a charcoal gray and light brown. It really does camouflage a lot of the cat thread pulls and hair balls, better than the lighter patterns I’ve tried. Absolutely loved the feel of this special piece. The cotton feels soft and comfy to the touch and feet. The color and pattern is a perfect contrast against the blond wood tone of the floors and predominantly white furniture beach decor. I like that the rug has darker browns and some black woven in. I just received this rug, so the only negative I have so far is part of the edge of the rug is curling up. Otherwise, the rug looks really nice.

Love this rug! The neutral woven texture is exactly what my kitchen needed it adds warmth and looks high-end. It's very durable and comfortable underfoot. It does need a separate non-slip pad for hard floors, but overall, it's an excellent quality runner for the price. Highly recommend!

So I give this rug/runner 5 stars because of it being well made and it looks nice for where I need it. However, I bought the ivory/steel gray and I had to double check the label because I'm not seeing what I would consider "steel gray". At first I noticed some thread that looks lavender and almost pinkish, so I was considering returning. But after laying it where I need it, it actually looks really nice and I'm very happy with it. This runner fits in well in my kitchen where I have white cabinetry and a countertop with white background and grey markings throughout. However, it doesn't lie flat, no matter how I pull it horizontally or vertically. The problem is that the edges are not straight but wavy as there are two different patterns and the pattern with checks that is thinner is mostly bowed outward. The result is that the rug buckles. Because the colors work for me, I'm thinking of keeping it. I wanted the 12' long but that's unavailable so went with the shorter 10' length even though my kitchen is quite long. If returning this rug, you'll need to put it in a box. It is wrapped too tightly and should be folded up and shipped in a box not plastic wrap that so's heavy it's hard not to cut the rug to get the rug out. ... show more

Lays flat. I bought a 1/8 thick runner for underneath. Fits my hallway great & looks wonderful w/my decor. I bought two other brand rugs prior to this one & junked them both cuz they would not flatten out. 3rd rugs a charm.
