Ok so this rugs is very pretty and what I prefer for looks HOWEVER it’s very thin AND the CHEMICAL smell coming out of it is overwhelming. I had an outside source remove old and lay this. Do I need to hire them again to remove it! I’m very upset. I have 5 animals that lay on it. Wil they be harmed by this?!? What are these chemicals! Gives me headaches and nausea. I will be calling customer service but HAD to write this review. I see others have had the same issue why haven’t they fixed this issue. I have a relatively small house so the smell is reaching every room !! I’m unsure what to do. Can’t sit and watch TV because the smell is making my eyes water !!!!! This rug is also very thin. I don’t mind this too much because I get rid of my rugs every 1-2 years because of all the animals I have. If you want a medium or thick rug don’t get this. This review is for the Safavieh 6' x 9' area rug BTN865N shown in attached photo. The rug has an appealing design and appears to be well made. The carpet was delivered rolled in a plastic sleeve with no damage. Upon opening the package I was overwhelmed by a strong solvent odor. I rolled the rug on the floor and opened the windows hoping the smell would dissipate but after several hours the odor was still very strong. The solvent smell was very similar to Trichlorethylene, a chemical used in cleaning fabrics. The smell was so bad that I got a headache and dizzy and became nauseated. Even my dog got sick. I moved the carpet outside and hung it up hoping it would air out. After two days outside it still smelled as strong as ever. Washing the rug my remove the odor but you would need a commercial washing machine and the solvent may damage the machine. I definitely would not recommend this carpet to anyone it is a health hazard! ... show more

Writing this review because when I purchased this rug, there were no reviews to go off of! It is BEAUTIFUL! I have brand new navy and white cabinets with gold accents, but I didn’t want a white rug, or a complete navy rug. A lot of rugs I looked at had teal in them (which I did NOT want), and this rug does not! It is definitely cream with a bit of ivory and dark and light blues! We receive SO MANY compliments on this rug! It had a slight “rug smell” for the first two days or so, but not overwhelming. It came rolled but flattened out in about 2-3 days and we used carpet/rug tape to secure to our kitchen floor. It is PERFECT!!! ... show more

Really nice! Pics were taken in the evening but this is as dark it will look, even lighter during the day. Really brightened up our “classroom” and is neutral enough to go with everything. Yes, the rug is somewhat on the thin side, but we could always buy a pad for later if we wish. Can’t beat the price either. (We picked the Gray rug 11’x11’). The smell of this rug is terrible, I foolishly opened it and put it in my house. It made my whole family sick, nausea , headaches and just feeling sick. I thought we were coming down with the flu. I guess I have been lucky, I have purchased many rugs and never had any problems. The smell is hard to describe but whatever it is it is toxic. I have the very large rug in my garage, up on blocks with fans blowing over and under it. It has been there a week and smells less toxic but the smell is still there. I had ordered another exact rug 2 days after I ordered the first. That rug was just delivered today, without opening it I can smell the same odor, so this one is going back. The rug itself is awful! It’s very thin, has very strong chemical smell and color is not as described (you can see blue in it). I would have to pay $90 to ship it back. I have been going back and forth with the seller for days now with no luck. I shop on Amazon All The Time and I have never expected anything like this before! If you decide to get this rug make sure you absolutely love it so you don’t get yourself in the same position I’m in right now! Update: Pay attention where the rug is coming from. If its fulfilled by Amazon you should be fine to return it for free. If by Overstock...well brace yourself because its going to be a bumpy ride!!! ... show more

Excellent rug, very soft and it arrived earlier than estimated. I unrolled it to smooth it out. It was way less “ wavy” than the outdoor rug I just got for inside. It’s gray, subtle, and has beautiful boho colors. Would repurchase from this seller and brand again. Update: I ordered a second one in this exact color, just in a smaller size.
