  • Works well, fan is a nice peace of mind feature
Size: 4-Bay
I don't know if I actually need the fan but I like the peace of mind it gives me as well as the form factor. I have had good luck with other Sabrent products so I expect this to last as well. Magnetic lid makes it easy to swap drives if/when necessary. My only complaint is that it has to be turned back on after a power failure but I didn't ding it for that since some people would prefer that. I had originally placed it somewhere not super-accessible but had to move it somewhere I can press the button easily. ... show more

  • This is an EXCELLENT quality product! ..
Size: 4-Bay
The title doesn't even cover it! This product was beautifully and thoughtfully packaged and shipped. It is beautiful, rugged and performs as advertised and exceeded my expectations. I put 4 (2) TB drives in it, spinning seagate drives and realized when you turn the unit on, the fan doesn't automatically come on, - you will need to press the button for the fan. What I do is, turn the fan on first, then power on the drives. The fan isn't hardly noticeable or beyond what you would expect for a small desk fan and you definitely need to run the fan, - it makes a difference. Without the fan the drives were hot to the touch. After running all four drives on a several hour copy job on my Mac, the drives were cool to the touch when I detached them. I got the non-raid version which was the best version. At USB 3.0 speeds files copied quicker from the finder from Mac to drive or drive to drive then using Stellar Clone Drive or another program. So, I recommend if you don't want to run the unit with the fun, you just leave the top off. If the drives are enclosed and the top on, you gotta run the fan. The unit is solid, and not flimsy, just beautiful. Like a tiny mainframe core on your desktop, - humming away softly. I didn't test the hot-swappable feature as I've learned with Mac OS that it doesn't handle dismounting from ANY multiple drive dock with out ejecting them all, - as this is an issue with the USB BUS and the OS, not the dock so I didn't even bother attempting that in the middle of a data copy. If I could give this review 20 stars, I would. It delivered beautifully on my iMac running El Capitan. The price as well.. was an EXCELLENT investment for the quality and functionality of this product, - once you start moving data around in the Terabytes you need reliability and stability in a product to protect your information that matters most. ... show more

  • Great Device, Super Fast
Size: 5-Bay USB C
Sabrent 5-Bay USB-C Docking Station for 2.5” SATA HDDs and SSDs with Built-in Cooling Fan In my assessment, the Sabrent 5-Bay USB-C Docking Station for 2.5” SATA HDDs and SSDs is a solid device for handling SATA 2.5-inch hard drives and SSDs. Overall, I am satisfied with its performance, but I decided to award it four stars for one reason. On the positive side, you can definitely appreciate the fast file transfer speeds and the convenience this device offers. The ability to connect up to five drives simultaneously is a significant advantage, and the USB-C connection ensures speedy data transfers. Unfortunately, one of the drawbacks is the noise level of the built-in fan. It is quite audible and can be bothersome, especially if you are working in a quiet environment. Fortunately, there is an option to turn it off, but in my opinion, future models should consider using a higher-quality fan or a more advanced cooling system. In summary, the Sabrent 5-Bay USB-C Docking Station fulfills its role and provides quick access to multiple hard drives at once. The fan noise is the only drawback that influenced my rating. I hope that in future iterations of this product, this aspect will be improved. ... show more

  • Great for if you have extra SSDs lying around.
Size: 4-Bay
I bought this because I have a few SSDs were sitting on a shelf because I had upgraded my machine to have more drive space. With this, I could just toss them in a drive as needed, without getting enclosures, etc. Seems to work really well. It was a bit tricky at first to get things mounted properly, but after that it runs fast. For SSDs I generally don't run the fan unless I am going to use it a lot - not a lot of heat generated. But the fact that it has one is great. Overall I am very pleased. ... show more

  • Excellent Expansion for SSD users.
Size: 4-Bay
A really good quality and practical product which allows SSD usage on a USB3 port. It is a bit noisy with fan turned on, and it does get a bit hot, so I placed it on an additional USB fan inside a upper shelf to keep cool and somewhat muffled. I use 2 of these and highly recommend it.
