The point of this product for me was I was already invested in the batteries, which are ludicrously expensive. But if you already have some and you only need a small amount of power this product works great. I have been using it for ham radio equipment and have made contacts to Europe. I wish it had slightly more power, because I have seen my radio equipment peak at 316 watts. However, so far this seems to do okay because of my DC power supply it is powering which also powers my radio, in other words my power supply acts is a good buffer for those peaks of wattage that's slightly higher than 300. If this was rated at 350 continuous It would be more ideal for me personally, but that's not a knock on the product, it was advertised as 300 and it does exactly that. I get about four or five hours of usage on a 4Ah battery. It is lightweight, the plastic molding is typical of Ryobi, doesn't feel extremely cheap but isn't quite as solid as some. I actually appreciate the fact that there's no useless features on it, loving the very bright LED light that comes with it and the other button which is on and off. That's all I care about. It won't power a coffee maker or anything that generates heat, but it will run my radio equipment and a fan and lights and charge your laptops and stuff like that. If you need more power you'll need the ridiculously expensive for battery port version which can do 1800 Watts. This is the much lighter, quieter, and more convenient option than a gasoline generator for my needs. Additionally, here is the AC waveform as measured on an oscilloscope. It looks like a pretty good waveform to me, there is some obvious distortion during the negative to positive transition near zero volt, but you have to zoom way in to see it and this would never hurt any of your electronics and in fact is much cleaner than most of the stuff I check. It's not perfect, there's definitely some minor deficiency during the transition to negative to positive and this occurs regardless of load, but the harmonic distortion is far less than 1%. ... show more

Works great and is nice to have in blackout situations. Also useful on long road trips for charging tablets, phones etc.

    • The clear button turns it on!
I almost messed up and kept pressing the grey button! The clear one is the on one!! This is an amazing device. I got it to use an LED trouble light outside at night. It worked all night on the 6.5 amp/hr batteries, and still had 2 charge indicator bars.

    • Great if you have a Ryobi Battery and Charger
This is a 110 volt AC Ryobi inverter. A battery nor a battery charger are not included With this item. With a 40 Volt Ryobi battery outputs approximately 300 Watts maximum 110 Volt AC of power via a standard three prong 120 volt socket. It also has a mini USB C and a USB A socket for charging devices. The only problem with this inverter is that, due to its location on the inverter, the built in light is useless. For light its much better to use a USB or 110 volt LED light on a cord so that you can hang the light. During power outages this inverter has provided me with simultaneous charging my cell phone, power of a radio, and bright lighting. With the handle on the inverter you can walk around outdoors at night and have light and communication. I already have 4Ah, 5Ah, and two 6Ah Ryobi batteries so I can go a few days without power. So if you already have batteries and a charger the $90 price of this inverter is a good deal for handy emergency power. ... show more
