Slowly moving all of my shop tools to 18v battery. Needed a small and lightweight miter saw to do trim and small carpentry projects on site, instead of making many trips to the garage to make cuts. All of my other 18v tools are Makita brand but I couldn't justify the Makita prices for this tool when I already have number powered miter saws. This one had good reviews for the intended purpose, its not a commercial heavy duty saw. The price was right, and I was able to purchase a Makita battery adaptor to fit this saw, so even better! The performance is good. It cuts straight and clean. It is relatively quiet, has a decent dust collection bag. Best of all it is lightweight and easy to transport right to where the work is being done. Like I said, its intended for smaller trim and molding jobs but it will cut a 2x4 and 1x stock. This saw is an update from hubby's similar, but older version which finally gave up working after years of service. It has several new features and is truly a better saw. It is a great value for the price.

This thing can only handle the daintiest cuts of wood, as the blade is small and powered by a very limited battery. Not an ideal Ryobi tool unless you need the portability for a VERY small job. Any larger and corded miter saw is vastly superior to this. Not to mention I got slapped with a $70 restocking fee for using this waste of machinery once before returning. ... show more
