As everyone else states the battery life sucks even with the big battery. The thing leaks BAR oil like crazy, not super happy about that. Otherwise it cuts well, makes decent power and is great for someone like me who has a few acres and cuts a couple trees down here and there. I could have gotten along with the 16 inch bar but I was able to buy a used 18in off Amazon for cheaper than a new 16in. ... show more

Great for up to medium duty cutting. I have many trees on my 3 “up north” acres. This big bar battery power saw does the job. Be sure to get a spare battery and don’t cheap out! Buy a RYOBI battery. The cheap 40V batteries are crap. I think they get fished out of a recycling bin. A spare chain wouldn’t hurt either. Hate to start sharpening a chain in the middle of a job. A great deal on this. I have several of the 40V Ryobi tools and love 'em. I wanted the chainsaw, but they were so expensive. found this deal for the refurbished one and decided to take a chance on it. When it got here it looked brand new. I just added bar and chain oil and stuck in a battery. It works great. I've been chopping up a big oak branch that I had taken down recently. the branch is bigger than any tree in my yard. this thing is going through it with no issues. ... show more

    • Stopped working after 20 minutes!
Reliability ZERO! After taking it out of the shipping box and adding a previously owned battery, it worked only 20 minutes and then was dead. It was out of the return window so I contacted the Ryobi distributer through Amazon. I was directed to take it to a local authorized repair facility. I was told it would take four to six weeks to troubleshoot, get permission to repair it from Ryobi, have the parts shipped or have the entire saw replaced. i own several Ryobi tools and have had no problem until this chain saw. Responsiveness to my issue has been less than impressive. ... show more

Perfect for a homeowner! I can't imagine a tree company switching to battery yet, but maybe for limbing up in the canopy? As a casual user with the occasional need to drop a tree or cut up one that came down, this saw will do whatever you need to do, as long as you have some time &/or extra batteries. Quiet, and SO MUCH BETTER than having to deal with 2-stroke gas and a carbureted engine that most likely will be problematic if it just sits around most of the time... as a former mechanic, trust me ... show more
