  • This is the best stain on the market!
One coat of the above is more waterproof than 3 coats of the big box store brands.

  • Great product
I love this product because of the transparency allowing the wood grain to show through but still protecting the wood!

  • Nice coloring on cedar, but......
My builder used this stain on the deck when new (summer 2016), and I loved the look on the tight knot cedar decking when first applied, (Natural shade) but in spite of what many other reviews say, I haven't been that impressed with its UV resistance. It started fading within a month, and considering that I live in the Pacific Northwest, and we had a dry summer, I think that's poor performance. One reason could be the nature of the tight knot cedar, which is kiln-dried lumber and thus pretty hard. Its ability to absorb the stain may be less than some other woods. So I put on another coat about two months after the initial one, and it darkened the wood slightly to a beautiful honey color. However, as we move into fall, it's already starting to lighten. So it's got two coats on new wood, and I will run it through the (first) wet winter to see how it holds up. I'm planning a third coat next spring though. So my advice would be to check with Rust-Oleum regarding the type of wood you intend to use before applying this stain. As they say, results will vary. ... show more

  • This a good product
I have used this product in the past It does last the 3 years as stated on the label I ordered online because it wasn't available at my local hardware stores

  • WORTH THE COST (so far)
You need to understand its best to put on 2 light coats over a thick coat UNLESS YOU ARE SURE IS WILL NOT RAIN FOR SEVERAL DAYS after application. I used the natural typee over the others because my referrer said it was easier to work with. Dont think you are just going to get a bug sprayer and apply that way. ... show more

  • Zinsser - RustOleum
Surface prep is crucial! The dry time for this product will depend on weather environment! Excellent product for the price. Using stain on Pressure Treated wood as well as sanded teak. Great results with a lot of prep work. 3 year warranty and the price what the hay! This beats paying $100(part one and part two), per gallon for a water-borne product. 4 or out of 5 stars thus far for dry time. Over all worth the look - compare to Sikkens brand? ... show more

  • Great Product
This is a Great Product!! Of course any wood preservative will need to be reapplied from time to time. The F&P not only preserves and soaks into the wood but also put a tiny bit of color into it. I built a little 8 X 12 cabin/tool shed in my back yard. The F&P was the ticket... looks great and preserves for a long long time.. you should really try it. ... show more
