Great Product! After trying two other wood conditioners, a sanding sealer, a shellac and denatured alcohol mix, and a lacquer and lacquer thinner mix, I've found this to be the best product as it has consistent, beautiful, even finish results which, in my opinion, shows off the wood and grain on my new Eastern White Pine floors the best they can be. It allows the stain to penetrate with just enough color and keeps the wood from blotching. It also allows for a longer window of time to stain after applying. I am not getting paid to say this! I've spent about 3 weeks (and a lot of money) trying to get these floors right, and I'm trying spare someone else from going to all the expense and trouble I've gone through.     • Really made it diffiult o stain after this application.
Even a dark Cherry stain would not soak in to the wood at all. It also made it difficult for the stain to set, dry if you will even after a few days in 85 dry degree weather in Arizona.

Great product! I would highly recommend this wood conditioner before you stain, it brings out the wood grain to your project a lot better then other wood contioner I've tried. THE BEST SO FAR! Used this on some diy barnwood doors and they came out fantastic.

The Rust Oleum Varathane Wood Conditioner helped prevent major blotching on wood that I was staining, but still left some blotchy areas. Before I applied it, I wanted to test it out on another surface to ensure I did not make a mistake on the finished product. Although it did make quite a big difference, there were still some areas that were much darker and some that were significantly lighter than others. I used this wood conditioner as instructed and it worked beautifully. Superior product. I was confused somewhat at the beginning of my project as to what I would use, but all I read said to use a wood conditioner. Rust-oleum produced a superior product. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
