Quality the same as other Rubbermaid sheds

Very happy with the product, it's the 3rd Rubbermaid box I've put outside, and it seems to equal the design and construction of all the others. I noticed that some users seemed to be disappointed in the construction and a few had the shed fall apart. Here's a tip. When you assemble the shed and slide the floor into the sides and back panel, pay attention to the three locking tabs along the leading edge of the floor panel. When it's inserted into the back, flip the unit onto it's front and using a rubber mallet, bang along the sides of each of the tabs to properly seat them into the slots. You'll see that after you do that, they LOCK into the back panel because they have a raised edge along the bottom of the tab. We assembled the unit and then decided to move it, we emptied it, and then simply carried it across the yard holding onto an indent, inside the shed. As far as size, these are not as big as the large Horizontal Storage Shed that's designed to hold trash cans, and they are not as wide as the Deck Box that serves as a bench seat. We use the Deck Box for chair cushions, and this Rubbermaid 3748 Horizontal Storage Shed is going to house several folding zero gravity chairs. One design flaw, the metal rod that holds the top in the raised position tends to get hung up in the channel that it travels in. You sometimes need to guide it a bit to get the lid to smoothly go all the way down.

Perfect for our needs

First, if you are looking for something that is weatherproof or that can be set up directly on the ground, stop now. This is not for you. In our case, our condo association allows us to put one of these (or its smaller brother) up against the wall at the end of our assigned spaces in the parking garage. It's a level concrete floor and not exposed to the weather. Just used for overflow storage for our condo - you know, all of the junk that you use maybe twice a year. We have the smaller junk items in Banker's Boxes (you can put 12 of them inside with larger items behind the BBs. Works fine. Our garage is secure, so a little Barbie lock is all that we need. Anything larger would be a waste, since it would be easy to slice the latch (it's just plastic). Assembly is a snap (literally). The whole thing snaps together. I notice some 1 star reviews. The ones with pictures clearly show the floor NOT snapped correctly to the sides and back. If you put the thing together correctly, it works as described. Took us about 30 minutes per (we bought 2) including the time to cut up the box to fit in the recycle bin. You really do need 2 people as it is a bit clumsy. And you really should have a rubber mallet as recommended unless you are Bruce Lee and can pound things together with your fist. A screwdriver to pry the doors into position also helps. Overall, it works just as expected if you don't expect too much. The best part was Amazon's delivery. Their logistics people were able to schedule a delivery time on a Saturday and the drivers wheeled the units up our elevator and directly to our parking spaces. Definitely 5 star service.

Slots and inserts don’t line up

Was very disappointed when putting the shed together that the slots and inserts on the floor of the shed didn’t line up. I added photos to show just how far off it is. Just gonna be a pain to pack up and send back and wait for a new one. Had a spot lined up in the backyard for it. Figured with the price this would be foolproof. Luckily I have put together enough Rubbermaid products to know this wasn’t operator error. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Easy assembly. Great purchase for something quick.

I didn't know what to expect in terms of assembly. I'm a new home owner and not always the best at putting things together. But this was simple. No tools were used. It snaps together like a puzzle. My 9 year old helped me as some of it is awkward (i.e., needing to hold a piece and slide another piece on to it). Other than that, the shed should be ready to go in 15 - 20 minutes. I just recently relocated it in my back yard. I emptied it first, then slid it over to a new spot. Easy. I wish it was slightly taller because standard height tools are too tall and will not stand up like a rake, shovel, etc. But I bought a lock to store my electric mower with collapsible handle, a fertilizer spreader with collapsible handle, a hedge trimmer, trimmer edger and a rake sort of lays across diagonally. There's more room too.

Not perfect

This review is for the Small Horizontal Storage Shed from Rubbermaid. 1. Quick delivery because it was in stock 2. The delivery box and the instruction sheet looked like it was a return, I have no issue with that when nothing is missing or tempered with, and it is clean. 3. Assembly took me 20 to 30 minutes. Just making sure i dit it right. Instruction says to use a rubber mallet but i did not, which was fine. 4. Because it sits on top of grass, next to a white shed, I bought eight 16x16 stones for the base, at ~$4 a piece. My main concerns are the following points: 1. There is a gap between the doors and the side panels (wider towards the bottom), certainly enough to allow insects (you can always find a way to kill them if you wished to), but this is not good if you have a sprinkler system. It rained all night and the inside is dry. For the gaps i bought a grey self-adhesive rubber seal which is now part of the door. HD sells them as rubber premium or EPMD. Not sure they will withstand the heat and cold weather of NJ but time will tell. See photo 1(from outside) and photo 2 (inside top view) 2. Doors did not align well as shown in photo 3. May have to do with the base i built because i did not use a level. I am guessing the issue will be resolved once i level it properly 3. When the roof is closed, the padlock hole is a bit off; it should be lower for a tight and hermetic seal. 4. Not trying to offend designers, but for pieces of plastics, and with this storage capacity (it does not hold much but that was my choice), this unit is expensive at $216. A figure of $100 to $150 would be more reasonable in my view. Esthetically, the unit is rather neat and its colors can blend with the environment, like grass, trees and white walls. Panels are sort of double walls therefore not flimsy.
