  • Amazing quality! Love my new shed!!!
Style: Windemere
I have a lot to say about this shed! First of all, it is an amazing shed, I am so glad that I bought it. I was debating on building my own or doing a kit like this one. After looking at the plans and all of the little things like windows, vents, hardware etc. and the fact that it was pre-cut I decided to go with this shed. I am not disappointed at all. I was worried that the lumber would be terrible but it was actually much better than what I was finding at both of the big box stores. The instructions were great and easy to follow. Now please know that I did do some upgrades to what came with the kit. Specifically I added joist hangers to the floor joists, I did chemical treatment to the bottom of the OSB flooring, I added studs to make it every 16 in on center (DO THIS- as it makes it so much easier to hang your tool holders). I also added Hurricane ties to the rafters (AGAIN- DO THIS! It makes the roofing system so much stronger!) I opted for architectural shingles, drip edge, 2 roof vents, high profile ridge caps, I painted the inside, added a security lock with finger print reader, Trex ramp, solar interior light and epoxied the floor. All of which were not much more expensive but made the shed so much nicer. Now, please be aware, if you are thinking of building this with a drill, hammer and the provided nails.... well I guess you can, but you will not enjoy the process... that is A LOT OF HAMMERING! It was so valuable to have a framing nailer, finish nailer and roofing nailer. I did hand nail the siding but hind sight, I would have bought a siding nailer... that part was a beast! All in all it took me 3 weeks to finish the shed, from the first shovel in the ground to the last stroke of a paint brush. I mainly worked on it full days on Saturdays, and a few hours each day during the week. Biggest tip I can give you-- Paint the walls after you stand them up and then PRE-PAINT all of the trim before you install it. That helps the finished product look so much better and trying to paint the trim after it is installed is a big hassle. I also used a color matched caulk where you add your paint color to the caulk and you get a perfect match to your paint, this works great for covering up your nail and screw holes. I had to keep telling myself, this is a shed, not a house but that didn't stop me from upgrading. I wanted to make it as nice as I could. Is this a construction project--- absolutely- but my 13 year old son and myself built it no problems. Now, on to the bad part--- the seller is ABSOLUTELY terrible to deal with. When I bought the shed, it stated that it came with an "organizational package" --- which included a loft, shelf and workbench--- that was not included in my kit. I called the seller, they told me I had to deal with Amazon, they wouldn't help me. I called Amazon they told me I had to deal with the seller-- after the back and forth game, Amazon finally called the seller, who told them, that was not part of my purchase--- even after I sent them a screen shot of the product page that I bought, showing the organizational package, I was told no! How would I even know about an "organizational package" if it wasn't advertised on the page? Even the Amazon rep who helped me ( extremely nice by the way!) was so frustrated after dealing with the seller. So overall, would I buy it again- definitely, it was a fun project and has given me so much space back in my garage and looks amazing in my yard. Just know 2 things, it is a lot of work to build and the seller is deceitful and horrible to deal with. I still gave this a 5 star review because the shed is amazing and Amazon did everything they could to make the experience with a terrible seller right. ... show more

  • This is not a layman's build
Style: Windemere
If I had to do it over again, I would not have purchased this product. 1. It comes delivered on two extended long pallets, so it requires a specialized forklift to remove from the truck. Ours was delivered in a box truck and the forklift we did happen to have available was not able to remove the palates so we had to literally remove each piece by hand and there were hundreds. The delivery company does not bring its own forklift. 2. The wood quality was terrible. The 2 x 4's were warped and had large saw marks in them. We were unable to build it as level or square as it needed to be because of the poor wood quality. 3. We ended up hiring a carpenter to do the work, costing us upwards of an extra $1000-2000 in labor and additional tools and roofing material. Even with the carpenter, most days we needed a minimum of 2 people and sometimes three to get the building together. Some of this I take responsibility for as I really thought this was going to be a little more put together than it was. It was quite literally pre-cut wood, pre-cut panels, windows, and hardware. If you are not ready to do a complete build yourself this is not the product for you. ... show more

  • Good quality for the money, great looking shed!!!
Style: Designer
Okay, so when I read the reviews, everyone reviewed the “Windermere”. We bought “The Designer” for the larger barn doors. So, MOST of it is the same, there are slight differences. The delivery went pretty flawless, they used two pallet jacks to take it off the truck using a lift gate. No issues there. The build was actually very straightforward. A couple of pieces were cut incorrectly. Two were too long with the incorrect angle, I was able to rectify those. One was 1/4” too short, I used some boards I had from other projects. Two trim pieces at the dormer were too short, and I wasn’t about to buy a whole sheet to fix the issue. Before you begin building, I would measure everything. It IS tedious, but at least you’ll know what you may need going any further. If I were to do this project again, I would FOR SURE paint everything first. All of the trim was a bit of a pain. I did a METAL roof. I know, I know, that voided my warranty, I just don’t care. It’s a wooden shed, and I plan to match the roof with my house and garage. The metal went fantastic, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. We’re also going to be adding metal “skirting” to two or three sides of the shed, as the leveling left some of it higher. DO NOT expect anything to be labeled as you’re building. There are NO labels. That’s where I’d mentioned measuring everything. I marked things as if gone(too late in a couple circumstances). This made things go a bit quicker. Side-Note…I did about 95% of this by myself. My wife helped put the last wall into place. My neighbor helped lift two sheets of OSB onto the roof. That’s it for help with the BUILD. The windows are shed windows, the doors are shed doors, they work, the look pretty fine after paint, but don’t expect double hung insulated windows, or a door that you can close by pushing it. You have to turn the handle to close it as well as opening. Overall, I would definitely buy this shed again. The cost saved me quite a bit of trips to the lumber yard/hardware store to get it all myself. For me, well worth the money having NEARLY everything needed delivered. I used a Milwaukee framing nailer to save a bit of time, so I have a bunch of nails left over. I had to buy paint, caulk, felt paper, drip edge, ridge cap, and metal for the roof. I also added more loft space. I also added a small 4’x6’ deck, using the pallets that the shed arrived on. So, you may not want to throw those away right off. I have LOADS of pictures of the progress, if you’re looking for something specific, leave a comment, I’ll try to oblige. ... show more

  • Fantastic value!
Style: Windemere
Absolutely satisfied. Life long carpenter which might have worked against me but followed the instructions and didn't make but a few cuts related to the siding. Sturdy, went together perfectly. Love it!
