This is a review of the set of 3 Rubbermaid Wheat Fiber cutting board We have recently been in search of better and safer alternatives to plastic cutting boards, so we figured to try this given it’s a brand we subscribe to with other kitchen items. I’ll dive into the boards themselves, but I’ll point out first that I was a little disappointed to not find too much information about the ‘non toxic’ property of this in the material packaging. Yes, the information here in the listing says non toxic, but if you’re buying this at the store, you won’t see it anywhere on the labels. It goes as far as saying BPA free, sure, but where are all the disclaimers about it being safe etc? Wish they placed this to back it up. Assuming these are indeed made with cleaner material, the boards themselves are actually very decent. They have a nice feel to them—rugged enough to keep your food in place, yet smooth enough to clean as needed, without leaving much residue. The rubber edges are strong and efficient. No sliding so far, which is what you really want for safety. The three sizes they come in are spot on, and each have their respective uses. The price it’s at is a little more steep compared to others, but maybe it can be categorized as premium if the material is indeed non toxic as it claims.

This set of three reversible cutting boards feels durable and well made. The non-slip corners are a standout feature, performing exactly as promised to keep the board firmly planted on the counter. This design also has a practical secondary benefit: it lifts the board's surface slightly, allowing for better air circulation and drying underneath, which is great for air drying. The boards are surprisingly dense for their thickness which makes me think they will resist deep scratches over time. However, the surface texture presents a significant drawback. It's quite aggressive. While this is excellent for securing a firm grip on large cuts of meat, it becomes problematic when working with thin, delicate items. Chopping green onions, for instance, is challenging because the stalks tend to get caught in the textured grooves, making fine, uniform cuts difficult. I like to avoid plastic in food prep, and got this as an alternative to my wooden cutting boards. However, in doing some online research I am concerned about the binders used to glue the wheat fibers together. While the packaging says these are BPA free, it does not say plastic free which makes me suspicious. I contacted the company to ask about this but did not receive a reply after three business days. I will update this review if I hear back.
