This cat scratcher is a self-assembly product. There are no printed instructions, and the assembly is not blindingly obvious without a product reference photo at minimum. The product listing has one photo that that illustrates most of the assembly process. Not as good as a diagram, but it mostly worked. There are two “pie” shaped pieces (whole pies with a slice cut out). These form the base with the piece with the track. The smaller pie piece needs to be sandwiched between the base and the larger pie piece. I did not realize this at first, in part because my cat was sitting on the smaller piece. So when I screwed the bolt into the bottom, it cracked the top of the larger pie piece. I repaired it with wood glue; no huge deal. The product comes with felt feet, but they are not thick enough to provide sufficient stability. I replaced them with thicker felt pads that I owned already, and the scratcher stopped rocking. This is one of those things where the manufacturer saves a half-cent in COGS by using thinner pads, but it has an outsized impact on the product’s quality. Otherwise, the scratcher performs as expected. My cat hasn’t taken to it yet, despite my heavy application of catnip, but I imagine she’ll come around. If I move this scratcher to different location in my home, the baseboard will prevent the top of the scratcher from being stabilized by the wall. I will unscrew the top piece, reposition it against the wall, and drill new holes in that top piece before I secure it to the L-post as before. Simple modification buyers can make to ensure the scratcher is a perfect fit for wherever they use it.

First of all, no instructions, zero, they give you 6 screws, 4 of one size and two larger ones, your guess is as good as mine as to what goes where. After completing the assembly I noticed I have 4 soft cushion like tape on pads, but I have no clue where they go. The diagram on the webpage shows you assembly but never mentions which screws go where or what to do with these cushion pads. Very frustrating. Once you get it together it seems ok, but the base isn't very stable, and your cat will knock this over in two seconds. Good idea terrible execution.

I've been on the hunt to find a scratcher for my cat so she can keep her little paws off the corners of the couches! She's not a fan of scratchers at all, and wasn't of this one either. She does however love playing with the wooden balls on the track so that's something! I on the otherhand think the scratcher is an amazing design and very beautifully made. It fits nicely on a cornered object, however it didn't go well with my couch because of the large puffy arm rests. I ended up putting it on the leg of my desk. It looks very fancy with the wooden pieces, that it looks like a little piece of furniture. Putting it together was ok, the directions weren't really great but I figured things out. The only thing I was worried I wasn't doing right was using the right length screws with the right parts. They provide an allen wrench with a screwdriver on the one end, but it is too small to use comfortably so I would definitely recomment using your own screwdriver or better yet a drill. I used a drill and it was a breeze to screw in. SO don't let my anti-scratcher cat disuade you from getting this for yours, if your cat is used to scratchers or you feel you could get them to learn, this is a beautiful and well made one to have for sure!

it was really a pain for me to put together. This is my 2nd Amazon scratching piece that I had to assemble TOO much of. Next time, I'm just going to pay more or pick up locally. If you find assembly enjoyable and don't mind it, I think this is as decent as any other scratch post. I chose it because it has sisal rather than cardboard...the cardboard scratch posts makes too much mess.

The media could not be loaded. We made this work, but it was a challenge, and it is not as pictured at this point. On first site opening the box there are some really nice quality wood pieces to put together this cat scratch post. Each of the pieces is a nice thickness and very nicely finished. there were no instructions on how to assemble this in the box whatsoever. I went back to the listing and we were able to at least figure it out. The main problem is the piece on the bottom that is supposed to have a trough in it to hold the little balls was not there. Either it was not included at all, or one of these pieces should have been routed out to make the troughs for the little wooden balls. We were able to assemble it, but without the wood balls being included. There were pieces that looked like Pac-Man cut outs, one larger than the other and it appears that maybe we shouldn’t have had one of those and we should’ve had a square base piece with that routed out path for the balls to move on.
