Description

For powerful steam and professional-quality results, turn to the Rowenta DW9280 SteamForce steam iron. The handheld iron’s integrated electronic steam pump delivers a substantial burst of vertical steam (up to 210g) and pushes up to 30% more steam into material (compared to steam irons with no pump), ensuring fast, effective removal of wrinkles from all types of fabrics. A handy LED digital display illuminates for linen, cotton, wool, silk, or nylon to indicate when the soleplate has reached the appropriate temperature for the selected fabric. The iron’s Microsteam stainless-steel soleplate provides 400 steam holes for even steam distribution and includes an ultra-thin silicate coating for scratch-resistant strength and nonstick gliding to protect even the most delicate of fabrics. A smart steam motion sensor turns off variable steam when the iron stops moving, conserving water and electricity. Even more, the iron’s precision tip makes easy work of maneuvering over collars, along seams, and in between buttons, and the precision-shot function allows for a concentrated shot of steam at the top of the soleplate tip. For safety and peace of mind, the iron shuts off automatically after 8 minutes if left unused in the upright position and after 30 seconds if tipped over or left in the horizontal position. Other highlights include one-touch controls, a cool spray mist for extra-stubborn wrinkles, an integrated anti-calcium system, and a self-clean system for long-lasting performance. From household linens to personal wardrobes, make a good impression with help from the Rowenta SteamForce steam iron. The anti-drip system helps prevent spitting and leaking when thermostat is on a low setting.

  • Get this if you like to iron!
Wow, where do I start? Okay, no comments from the peanut gallery! I learned to do laundry by washing my clothes in the river and heating irons in the fire and putting a towel or cloth over them to iron them. I can hear you snickering ... you know who you are! :-) This is my third Rowenta iron over the years. They didn't break, they just made better models. My daughter has my last one and it's like new. It seems to be the only company who makes premium irons for the general public. Suffice it to say that a good ironing board is necessary to use a good iron on for excellent results. Before I tell you how fantastic I think this iron is, I have to tell you I went through THREE before I got one that worked. Do NOT buy this iron from Rowenta, because their solution is to mail the iron back to them and in 4 to 6 weeks they will fix or replace it. If it wasn't for Amazon's outstanding guarantees and customer service I would still be walking around in wrinkled clothing. Use the iron a LOT in the first thirty days to make sure it's not going to leak all over the place. Course it wasn't so bad for me because I mostly iron cotton now that the kids are grown, but if you're ironing silk or something and it's getting wet, you're going to be pulling your hair out! That being said, this is THE BEST IRON ON THE PLANET AND BEYOND! You can actually add water to this beauty by pouring it in the WIDE reservoir opening. Use a measuring cup or something even though you can put it under the tap. I think that even though it doesn't look like water is getting into the iron, it may be getting in underneath the reservoir cover. The reservoir is dark blue (not sure what genius did that without a clear water level sight line) and difficult to see the level until you get used to it. All the positives more than make up for that faux pas. The steam sole plate is absolutely amazing! There are a million holes and steam is pushed out of them! If you accidentally iron in a crease you can iron it back out with this feature, it's that good. Note ... you cannot pump and pump and pump steam out of this iron ... get a steamer for that. The steam will fade and the light will come on. If you use it a pump at a time it will work. It's a little trial and error, but it works. Read the manual! The snout of this thing is perfect! It is very long and no matter what position you are headed, or how you are holding the iron, you can see where it is going and the thing fits everywhere you point it ... VERY nice! The temperature dial is "unreadable," BUT, who cares because the light comes on telling you what you're ironing and flashes until it reaches temperature, or until it cools off when you lower the temperature. The manual says start at lower temperatures and then iron things that require hotter temperatures. Well, good luck with that, I'm sure they have NEVER ironed anything or had kids waiting! The temperature is fast and easy to adjust. What did it miss? Oh yeah. The cord is a "normal" cord like an extension cord, not a half inch round wire like the older models that were hard to manage. This cord is agreeable! The steam and spray levers make sense and they are BIG and the steam is by itself on top of the iron, the spray below the handle. Nice! The steam/no steam switch is right there on top and it's easy to use. This is the sports car of irons! Splurge! Good luck! :-) ... show more

  • Still Going Strong
I iron at least once a week, this Rowenta is the best I have ever come across as it continues to work the same as when I first got it and has done so like a beast. The weight is comfortable to move around and the design of the handle is very ergonomic, the dial controlling the temperature is easy to move with one finger but very hard to accidentally bump which keeps burning to a minimum, the water capacity is great for use but as much as I iron I typically keep a bottle nearby for refills as I need them. Overall, the ease that this iron is able to smooth out fabrics and make them presentable is award worthy. ... show more

  • Nightmare iron from Day 1 and fully broke after 2 months.
I iron every day of the week and expected this super pricey iron to do an excellent job with minimal effort on my end. I made a huge upgrade from a cheap Sunbeam iron that died on me after 10 years to this fancy model as a treat to myself. I sew every day and have been sewing for the past 18 years. I am not new to ironing by any means. I bought this iron 2 months ago and it has been nothing but problems since the day it arrived. I have it plugged into a wall outlet directly as it says in the manual and the cord still gets very warm to the touch which my old iron did not do. It has spit out brown water, white foam and black water. I clean it DAILY using the self clean function (such a pain in the butt because of the placement of the button. It's an arm work out and a time waster to clean it, but I do it because I was having so many issues and that's what the manual said to do to troubleshoot. I have tried tap water, filled water, water that's been sitting out for a week, etc. I have recently had a well water test done on my home and we have very low calcium in our water so the white foam calcification makes no sense to me for an iron that has a special anti-calcium system in it. The other water suggested in the manual is distilled water, which I would have to buy at the store and refuse to do. I can not fathom buying water to use in this iron because it easily goes through a 1/2 gallon of water a day. The iron was $120+, now I have to spend even more money on distilled water in order to use it? That is not a sustainable option for me and I spent up all my money on this purchase so I have nothing left for fancy water. If it didn't go through so much steam it might be an option, but there is no way I could afford this much distilled over the long run. I have heard reviews that mentioned Rowenta irons notoriously leak water, which I did not fully understand until this week. Twice now, I went to use it, picked it up and had it DUMP water everywhere, to the point where I had to get a towel to soak it up off the floor and hang up my ironing board cover to dry TWICE. Basically, I can no longer use the steam iron to make steam because it can not handle the water. When it was working the first week, the steam was super heavy which was great, but it soaked through my ironing board and caused puddles on the floor. I blame the ironing board more than the steam iron on that one though, but keep that in mind if you have a carpet or something under your ironing board. The most recent issue that sealed the deal for me writing this review is it no longer goes to the linen setting, it resets itself to cotton no matter what I do. I have tried unplugging/plugging back in, turning off/on, cleaning, letting it cool and try again and the linen option is no longer available. It has been 4 days of trying since it last went and stayed on the linen setting. This makes me think it is over heating or there is an actual electrical issue going on inside. Probably from the 2 cups of water that poured out the bottom and through every seam. The self cleaning method involves holding a. button down with one hand and shaking the iron with your other hand to shake out any calcium build up through tiny steam holes. I can see the solid matter and there is no way to get it out of the iron. You can shake for hours but you can't get a square peg through a tiny round hole. So at the moment, I have 4 holes filled with solids that I can't remove...after 2 months of use. For someone who price checks, researches, reads reviews, I hope this one saves you from spending $100+ on an iron that will immediately let you down and cause you extreme aggravation. I wish I could return it and get my money back so I could buy a $30 Sunbeam iron that will last me another 10 years. I contacted the company a week ago and have not heard back. Will update when I do. ... show more
