I purchased this Rousseau 5000-L Lighted Dust Solution to keep dust out of my small workshop for a new DeWalt DWS779 miter saw I recently purchased. It is labeled as "Made In The USA", and the quality, design, fit and finish of the device makes this American proud. It's a quality product. Photos I've attached show how well it fits my saw and table. Installation instructions are minimal, but that stands to reason as applications vary so much. That being said, the basic information needed to make the install are clear, and the installation was a snap. A call out here, though, on the exhaust port from the base of the hood to a vacuum or dust removal system. Amazon recommends a POWERTEC 70136 4in to 2-1/2in Cone Reducer, so I purchased it. IT DOES NOT FIT. To Amazon's credit, they gave me a full refund on this item. If you look at the installation material that comes with the Rousseau, it will show that they recommend a 4" I.D. reducer, like one sold from Penn Industries(note attached photo). I just ordered that part from them. The POWERTEC item description says "4in", but it is NOT 4in I.D. Buyer beware. The LED lighting on the Rousseau is slick, and works well. One disappointment, though, is that it's not switched. I chose to not connect it to the iSocket Workshop Autoswitch that I purchased with the Rousseau, which is great for my vacuum, because it shuts-off shortly after the saw is shut off. I wanted to keep the work surface lit when the saw was not in use. My solution was to purchase an HBN Outside/Inside Wireless Remote Control for the LED light. Bottom line, I'm VERY HAPPY with the Rousseau unit, and very impressed with the design and quality. I see getting many years of use from it. ... show more

I like the design and quality of this rousseau 5000 dust cover. The added rope light is a must for those with not so perfect eye sight, for me it could be a little brighter or have adjustable brightness. The 4 inch dust connection is not really usefull in my situations as this saw and dust collector is used daily at worksites and is mowed around extensively. A 4 inch dust collection hose is too cumbersome to move around at job sites and we only use them at permanent setups. A standard shop vac hose connection would be more fuctional for this dust collector hood. Also the electrical cord for the light is less than a foot long which is way to short. ... show more

Just got this and have been using for a month, I love it. I haven't gotten a reducer to hook it to the Vacuum yet, but I taped a small trash bag to the bottom and it works great! It contains all the saw dust and helps to keep the work area clean. I really love the light it has built in, could be a bit brighter, but it works well. ... show more

The only thing I don’t like about this dust hood is trying to put it back in the bag when you’re done with it. It’s like trying to put a sleeping bag away. Aside from that it’s awesome. I’ve had the fastcap chop saw hood and that worked great but the Rousseau takes the cake. The led light can’t be beat. You gotta be able to see what you’re cutting and it’s perfect. The best part of this chop saw hood is the built in 4” dust port. My dust collector hooks right up to it and provides constant suction to suck away all the fine dust that would normally be left to float around in the air. Shake the hood a little and any dust that hasn’t been sucked up just drops down and gets sucked up. The constant suction also helps to keep the dust from settling on my saw. You know that stuff works it’s way inside the motor and causes it to heat up and prematurely burn up. Furthermore, Rousseau has great customer service. After several years the led light gave up the ghost. I called Rousseau and they sent a new one out lickity split. Get you one of these and up your game as a craftsman. Style: Lighted Dust Solution
Extremely well made, rounded cone shape with baffles and a 4" dust port really make a difference. Collapses perfectly and the best connection systems I've ever seen to work with a bench, stand or hybrid. The LED Light are perfect since they actually go into some really nice sewn in attachment loops. Since it's rounded you get the perfect light rather than from just the top. Miter Saws are just awful at throwing wood dust everywhere, I've tried a number of solutions. This one is out of the box - the best. When you call Rousseau the always answer the phone and help you maximize using your purchases. What about Festool comparison? The ONLY reason the Festool catches a lot is because of it's rubber boot that sits right behind the blade and almost always touches the wood. But it still throws a lot around especially on wider boards or on miters. Any one can add this "boot" if they get the same or similiar thing and make it fit on your saw. BUT you still have to have a shroud if your serious on catching most everything a Miter Saw throws out. This Rousseau 5000L is the best. I also have their Rousseau 2950 Miter Saw Stand that Folds and Rolls with built in extension wings and inflatable tires. This design has always been at the top of it's category and works perfectly with their 5000L. ... show more

Took ten minutes to assemble. Very light and portable. Does excellent job for what its designed for. My 1250cfm dust collector is capturing almost all dust from my compound miter saw. That’s a first! The fabric can twist at the intake port and block it from collecting dust. My dust collector hose will twist a little when first turn on. My remedy is to have my dust collector on while plugging in to Rousseau. Easy fix for a small issue. Well worth the end result, collecting dust.
