Heats great, but installing isn’t the easiest. You don’t have much room under the dash once the blower is in, so leave yourself an ample amount of ducting so you can connect it to the blower before you install it. The instructions are vague. Zip tie the blower ducting really good otherwise the ducting will fall off. ... show more

    • Just shy of being perfect
I ordered the RC heater kit on Wednesday, got it on Saturday, installed it on Sunday. For the most part the installation was not difficult as far as mechanical ability is concerned but, it is definitely a tight fit and requires some contortionist abilities. The hardest part was running the lower defrost vent and tubing. I didn't have any help installing them but, 2 people would definitely be easier. I fished them into place as close as I could then used some masonry twine to make a loop in order to grab the outer "wing" of the duct and pulled it up and was able to start one screw with the dash plate then removed the twine and the other side pulled into place as I tightened the first screw. The difficult part is getting the vent hoses connected to the heater then put into place. I have 3 issues with the kit, 1. the y fittings for the radiator hoses are too small, they need to be at least a 1/4" larger in diameter. 2. The block off plate seems to be very fragile. When I got everything finished and tested I took the block off plate out of the plastic bag and found one corner broke off. I emailed RC about a replacement, hopefully they can send me a replacement. 3. The instructions need to be re-written. They seem to have been written by a tech that did an install of the product but failed to include all of the information. The instructions are more of a bullet point presentation and misses critical details. There also needs to be a close up picture of the engine bay y adapter hose connection. There are 2 different hoses in that same area and it isn't clear on which one is the correct hose. I tested the heater last night and it does work really well. It isn't listed in the description but, the heater kit I received was in fact a 2-speed motor with both high an low settings. With just the couple of changes i listed above, this kit would be really awesome!! Update 11/23/2025 RC contacted me about the broken block off plate and had a new out to me the next day. I have bought several items from RC in the past and will continue to buy from them. Their customer service goes above and beyond. ... show more

    • Incompatible Y coolant connector fittings for a 2023 Can Am Defender HD10
First, the positives: The packing was good and the unit and toggle switch / wiring itself looks nice. I’ll have to comment on function once I can get it installed and tested which leads to the problems. For starters, the instructions are both vague and inaccurate. If followed as written you will be redoing some steps over. The recommended vent cutout is listed as 2 inches followed by instructions stating you will need to enlarge the hole a 1/16” of any inch all the way around with a blade in order for the vents to fit. In truth it’s actually more like 1/4” . This is ridiculous and subjects the installer to unnecessary carving and risk of cutting self or ending up with a misshaped hole. Turns out a 2 1/2” hole saw would nave been perfect. Too bad I figured that out after following the instructions. The major issue is that the supplied aluminum Y connectors are also too small for a 2023 Can Am Defender HD 10 which I only discovered after cutting my radiator hose. I then had to drive around to multiple automotive and hardware stores before finally finding some online. Now I just gotta wait a couple weeks for them to arrive. This is completely unacceptable. Obviously these issues are not unique to me as others have also mentioned incompatible (too small for the vehicles coolant hose) Y connectors. RC needs to immediately replace the y connectors with ones that will fit the vehicle and review the instructions. Perhaps if someone from RC would actually install their heater on a newer style (2020-current) Can Am HD 10 and create an installation video which would both help customers better understand what is needed as well as help RC ensure correct parts and avoid needless fitment issues.
