  • Now I sound like Geddy
Ok, no I don't. But I do really love the sound and feels of these strings. I have tried quite a few brands over the years, and every time a take a break from using these, I end up loving them all over again. I like the bright tone and they are very grippy- but that comes at a cost- they do tear your fingers up pretty good, and so be prepared to spend more time than usual building calluses. I had been meaning to stop by Guitar Center for a good 2 months to pick up a set (closest locations are 25 minutes away), and then my blockhead finally thought to try Amazon. Duh! 5-10 dollars cheaper and pretty quick shipping to my door. Done deal. ... show more

  • Great Sound
These stings are so bright! The tone is amazing. Great bass players like John Entwistle played with the Rotosound strings. They are a great value and you will love them the minute you try them. I really like the bright tone and it great for all styles of playing, especially funk. If you like popping and slapping then you're going to love these strings. Great for rock playing too! ... show more

  • Highly recommended by a professional bassist!
Bought this as a Christmas gift for my son who is a professional bass guitar player. He had this on his "wish list" through Amazon.com and stated that this is the only brand he uses. He claims you can definitely hear the difference and they last much longer both by heavy use and being exposed to the elements (their band plays lots of outdoor gigs as well). After being told the above, it seems rediculous to waste the $$ and buy anything else. Also, I would definitely purchase through this seller again. Delivery was very fast and they were packaged very well. ... show more

  • Very live strings.
I have used Rotosond strings since the 70s. I love the live sound they provide. I have used the steel and nickle strings with great results. These strings have a piano-ey kind of sound and as such they have a lot of harmonics so the strings will go out of tune with themselves after a while. I find that they start to lose their sound after about 4 weeks of heavy playing and should be replaced. ... show more

  • If you play a Rickenbacker 4001...
If you play a 4001 or 4003, these are the strings to have. The punch, the growl, it's all there. I'm not too aggressive of a player so they haven't eaten up my frets yet, but that's what luthiers are for, right? These bad boys stay in tune like nobody's business and when you play, everyone knows what strings you have on your axe. I did get a slight bit of bridge lift (~1mm) on my 1980 4001, but it hasn't changed in 30 years, so I don't worry about it. Rotosound Swing bass strings and a 4001/4003 are a match made in heaven! ... show more

  • Really amazing strings, very beefy/sturdy and have an amazing sound
Really amazing strings, very beefy/sturdy and have an amazing sound, very punchy, I could tell even as I was tuning that these were the perfect strings. I would recommend these to anyone who plays bass as a novice or pro.

  • Bad E string
Long time rotosound user. The E string in this set was dead, noticeably different sound, not bright and punchy as the others. I've had this happen before with rotosound, so don't want to leave terrible review for this seller.

  • The best bass strings!
I've played many strings over the years and I tried these out because I had heard so many pros like Geddy Lee, Billy Sheehan, and Jaco used them. I can see why they did. The tone is amazing. They have a super long life and a brightness about them that's not like any other string I've played. It fits all styles from funk to metal to punk to jazz. They're awesome and I'd recommend them to anyone! ... show more
