  • These are all I use
These were designed for John Entwistle, used by Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, Doug Wimbish and Billy Sheehan. They sound great and last. They are noisy, being round wound, so if your playing gets sloppy, you'll hear every noise, but they are all I use, and I've used them for decades. They are also hard on the fingers and the frets. The sound is worth it for me. ... show more

  • Great tone, long life
Been using the RS66LD strings on my 4-strings for 30 years, so it was a no brainer when I got a 5-string to start using the RS665LD strings. Lots of nice bright sparkle and plenty of low thump as well. Last longer than anything I've tried, so I don't try anything else anymore.

  • Great flexibility in tone
I love these strings so much. I have an Ibanez Soundgear 5-string with a mahogany body and these strings provide a great range of tone. One caveat: there is a significant difference in brightness between the A and D strings. I am one of those negligent bass players who put off changing their strings for as long as possible and these have served me well. ... show more

  • Rough surface!
Went back to flatwounds. Playing on these things are like sandpaper to player used to flats and half wounds. But with that said, they sound great, no dead strings and no unraveling.
