  • Good product. Does things I didn't even know it could do and I things I didn't know I needed.
This is a great little product for the money. I moved from a ten year old monoprice 8 port switch that cost me a couple hundred dollars back then. Monoprice made and still makes good products, but this old one isn't 4K and it's showing signs of pending failure, and I didn't want to spend that kind of money again. Saw this one and decided to give it a go. I didn't need 8 ports. So I decided on the 5 port model. Right out of the box it's clear this is a pretty decent quality. It's got good weight to it. Most of the switches you get at "Worst Buy" or other big box-ers just feel cheap. This one doesn't feel that way. I have 'never' been a fan of these remotes that are smaller than a business card with those flat buttons. They break in about a month. This one does come with a remote that size, but it's a sturdier build, actuall rubber buttons, very basic, and it works well at fairly decent range. That being said, I guarantee you I'll lose it. So, I taught my learning remote (Sofabaton is my go-to) to learn the functions of the included remote and I put the original in the drawer. It's there if I need it. Setup was very simple, as expected. There was one thing I never liked about my monoprice. It didn't auto-switch when it got signal. I didn't realize this one did that, and I love it! Now, I've got this plugged into a Samsung 70 inch Crystal UHD TV. Samsung is notorious for short-changing you on HDMI inputs. This TV is great, but it's only got two HDMI inputs, hence the need for the switch. In Port 1 I have my roku device. In port 2 I have this switch with my blu ray, game systems, and PC/Laptop on it. I did that because the TV itself will always auto-switch to the most recent signal it picks up. My wife can hit the home button on the Roku remote and no matter what I left it on, it'll kick over to the Roku. This switch, though....it's got some magic to it. If I'm on the Roku input....and the switch is powered off, and I turn on any one of those devices hooked to the switch, this switch will power-on, auto select the source, then kick it over to the TV which with auto-select that input on the TV. I love it. Money well spent. ... show more

  • Doesn't modify the HDMI, unlike AVR's with ARC.
Color: Z-Black (8K)
Purchased a Denon AVR that had multiple inputs however the HDMI output had no audio (something related to HDMI ARC - my TV doesn't have ARC). Zone 2 was a nuisance (separate on/off, disables the main HDMI, or won't switch to the desired source). I needed to get composite (RCA) audio for wife's hearing aids. Purchased an HDMI to composite for that, but no audio. Since no audio to the TV, the TV's optical out had nothing either, so new AVR was unusable. Rooful solved my problem, very simple. Kept my older JVC AVR, and used the HDMI to composite on the Rooful's output. It doesn't modify the raw HDMI signal so works perfectly. Switching with the remote is easy. Cost saving of Rooful vs new AVR is obvious. ... show more

  • Much better than the cheaper switch I tried
Color: Black
The first Hdmi switch I purchased couldn't handle 4k and non-4k devices plugged in at the same time. However, this switch had absolutely no problem. I also like the weight of the unit. It helps keep the small unit from "levitating" because of the cables plugged into it. I also like that all the cables plug into the back of the unit. This unit didn't try to auto switch everytime a device powered on like the other unit I tried, and it also let you switch to port even if the device wasn't sending an active signal to the port. I feel this is important if you're doing automated activities with a Harmony hub or the like. The remote is small but has actual buttons. My only complaint was that I had to use a shorter hdmi cable for output from the switch. Otherwise I was seeing "snowflakes" in any 4k picture. I suspect there's just not enough power in the output signal for a 20 ft hdmi cable. Once I used a shorter cable the snowflakes disappeared. And just tech tip for anyone who is plugging into a 4k TV that has multiple hdmi inputs... if you find you have audio issues from any device plugged into the switch, make sure the TV doesn't have more advanced hdmi settings enabled for the port you are using from when you had a single device going into the port. I had an older bluray player that wasn't getting audio output on the TV after using the hdmi switch, and it was because I had a "deep color" setting on the tv's hdmi port from when I had my firetv 4k stick plugged into it. ... show more

  • The perfect HDMI switcher
Color: Black (with Audio Extractor)
The product works exactly the way it should. Plug and play. No decrease in picture quality, and no delay or frame rate drop when playing video games either. I have my Google TV Chromecast, my Xbox One, my Switch, and my GameCube all hooked up to it (my GC has a component to HDMI converter). I've had no issues at all with the automatic input switch either, works brilliantly. The remote works just fine as well. However, you'll want to make sure the front of the device isn't blocked by anything though, or it won't be able to receive the signals from the remote. Having the ARC feature makes it perfect for those who have an external speaker/surround sound system. Optical Audio output is definitely recommended, but you could use an Aux to RCA (or Aux to whatever) in the Aux port, but you will only have stereo or mono audio if you go that route. Sound is very clear with no audio delay either. My only complaint is that the Optical and Aux ports are on the front and not the back of the device. But that's just my preference and doesn't warrant reducing the 5 Star rating. All in all a fantastic product for tvs with a limited number of HDMI ports. I highly recommend it! ... show more
