  • Great little tent, but be prepared for the weight
First off, this was kind of an impulse buy because we got a tent site too small for two families with two family size tents. So our family split between it and another two person tent. Giving 5 Stars because we do LOVE this tent. That being said, here are the pros and cons for us and our needs: Pros: Easy to install Easy and fast to pop-up, even for kids (at least 10 yrs to do the actual popping and ladder part bc it takes some strength) Ladder is sturdy Mattress is comfortable, even for two large adults Fairly cool, as long as the venting is open Fairly private, as long as the bottom parts of the flaps are closed Lots of big pockets Lots of loops to hang things Easy to take down, but it does require two people to stuff all the fabric between the seals Cons: (Specific to this tent) -The side flaps connect at the bottom, and when open, there's no pocket to stuff the extra material into. Having the extra material around the opening can be annoying to navigate around when getting your footing on the ladder. I can make a pocket, so no real issue. -The front flap is opposite and connects at the top, which means you can't close the bottom half for privacy at night when you're laying down. Preference I suppose, but it's nice that the side flaps you can use this way. I'm not sure how other tents, of this price point, compare in this way. (For any hard top rooftop tent) Extremely Heavy You have to find a way to safely get it on top of your vehicle You have to find a way to store it safely, probably in the air to maximize storage space You have to find a way to not kill anyone while getting it in the air ... show more

  • Open box review only, not field tested yet.
Initial thoughts as I haven't used it yet, but the quality of this RTT seems very good. The outer shell is solid and the inside is great. Several pockets in the overhead area, one is clear for a tablet, big plus. Each side if you are lying down has its own storage hanging. There is a prewired led strip with USB connection and a switch. The pad is very comfortable to lay on. Opening it is easy with sturdy latches and heavy duty struts. Takes some effort to close it so you should be able to mount items on the top of the shell without the tent wanting to close up on you. The fabric is what you would expect to see on more expensive RTT's so this should hold up for years with care. This review is more of an unboxing as I haven't mounted to my truck just yet but the quality for the price makes this an easy 5 stars at Initial first take. ... show more

  • Almost Excellent, please read.
Overall, this is a great tent for the price. The tent came in good condition with no dents/scratches. It’s very easy to setup and convenient. As others have mentioned, not the most comfortable mattress. Fine for a night or two, but if you want to do an extended trip; get an additional cushion. The biggest draw back is that when you drive in heavy rain, the seal does not adequately seal. Rain seeps in and the tent material is wet. After driving in heavy rain, I would personally air the tent out on a sunny day. I reached out the the company to see if they offer some sort of cover that slips over the entire tent when closed. Unfortunately they do not. This tent is near perfect for the price. It could be an excellent and just needs this fixed. I wanted to give it 5 stars, but this needs to be fixed. This tent sits on top of an RSI roof rack with Alucab load bars. Fits well. I was able to add a 100w solar panel on top of bars included that go on top of the RTT and run it to a jackery inside the bed. Closing the tent can be challenging by yourself. There’s a lot of material to tuck in. If not tucked in, will be exposed ... show more

  • Awesome
This tent is fantastic! Super easy to set up and comfortable enough for several nights or even a couple of weeks. The mattress feels high quality, the built-in light is really nice, and the overall build is solid with good attention to detail. Definitely a great buy!

  • Great for an Epic 7k+ Road trip!
I bought this camper for what ended up being a 7150 mile trip hitting about 10 national parks and monuments and driving the 101 around Olympic park to San Fransisco. This camper was great and from my research it is pretty comparable to more expensive tents. What I learned is that you can use or just role up the awning. I was also able to add 1.5 more inches of memory foam and make the bed so it was ready at each stop! I didn't leave pillows in, but you can, just is harder to close. The shoe bags only work on the end of the camper. I was looking for the best camper for the money, and I believe I found it. Only thing it might have is a vent for a diesel heater, but we had a night at 9k feet in Beartooth lake and was quite warm...when in the tent. This tent gave us the ability to save on hotels and wake up in much more beatiful places and even pull over and take a nap in a rest park. We slept 15 of the 20 nights in the camper, only staying in a hotel 2 and at a friends for 3 nights. We stayed on free sites on BLM and at National forests with the most for any site being $25, which was a really great savings on the trip. It seems to be very water proof and the top window allows for ventilation. I am 6 ft tall and I wouldn't want to be much taller, but two of you can sleep at an angle and gain more room if needed if you don't mind getting a bit cozy with one another. The many pockets are great for stoarage. It fit well on my Ford Maverick and we could pop it up quickly if not using the rain fly, but you get pretty good at using the included rods for the fly. The only thing that could be better is the mattress, but I believe that is true of most camping solutions. I recommend a lot of pillows and used a body pillow and found it more comfortable than my wife. It can be taken down by one person easily, but takes some practice to tie off the strap and then tuck in both sides completely before closing it down. I had not intended on keeping it as I have a tear drop camper, but I may keep it to use for road trips and venture crew as it is very convenient. I used my deer winch to put it on my truck and it is something that needs to be well thought out or done with help. I used mine on a AWD 4k Tow Ford Maverick getting about 28-30mpg on the trip fully loaded as you can see in the pictures. ... show more
