The Dupont Roof Protector Underlayment is a four-layered synthetic underlayment installed under asphalt or metal roofing. Roof Protector's top layer provides good grip, the lamination layer acts as a barrier to water, woven polypropylene scrim provides strength, and slip-resistant coating provides grip to the roof deck to minimize tearing at the fastener points. The Roof Protector is an engineered synthetic roofing underlayment with a high strength-to-weight ratio. This underlayment is ideal for steep slope roofing applications under asphalt shingles or metal cladding and allows maximum roof coverage with 10 squares per roll. It also leads to reduced labor and waste with efficient installation, creating fewer overlaps, seams, and fasteners. The Dupont Roof Protector Underlayment has increased durability with a higher thermal stability than roofing felt, which allows it to stand up against tougher weather conditions. Arrived on time, 30 minutes before the roof went on. We were counting on that as a big box store was another week out on delivery. The roofing protector is slightly different than traditional Tyvek in composition but easy to handle and work with, cut, etc. It’s new to me but so far I’m impressed. We used it under a metal roof, no sheathing, for a “lean to” addition on a shop building to keep drips off of equipment when the roof sweats.     • It wasn't a black roll of food paper, it was grey, I won't bother fussing over it tho.
It wasn't black like the ad, it's a darkish grey, I wanted black for a specific reason, but it'll have to be.

The Dupont Tyvek underlayment went on faster and easier than tarpaper. That's a plus. I learned from information on the Dupont site that this product can be applied and will potentially withstand elements up to 3 months before the final roofing is installed. That would be amazing. I will get the roofing on ASAP but it's comforting to have the underlayment installed and be dried in even if it's just a day or two of rain risk. ... show more
