  • So much fun and has lots of details!
Style: DG - Cathy's Greenhouse
I am always amazed how these kits never miss one tiny part but they don’t! This one was fun and you make lots of flowers! Took a few weeks or so, working on it a few hours each evening. Purchased the other versions as well to do next! Instructions are clear and easy to follow but you sometimes need to be creative and problem solve. I will say the plastic “house” part was difficult and I wanted to toss it in the trash when getting to that part. I did use my cricut to cut the molding pieces that finalize the house and added a few of my own details to some of the pieces. I enjoy making each kit “my own” and adding details here and there. The flower making part did start to get old and I am going to hold off on a kit in the near future that is flower intensive. It is a flower greenhouse, I know but it did get tiresome by the sixth page of just flowers. Overall, fun and people enjoyed looking at all of the many details! Maybe not a kit for beginners though or maybe it is bc you get a lot of practice doing similar pieces. ... show more

  • So Cute! I love these kits!
Style: DG - Carl's Fruit Shop
If you see my photos and compare it to what it should look like, you’ll notice that it’s a lot different. I didn’t personally like the provided flooring, and wallpaper, so I went ahead and printed my own floors and painted the walls white, and added black trim between the wood and the white walls. But it was all personal preference, the provided floors and walls work perfectly fine!! I also painted the furniture how I wanted them to look as well, I couldn’t stand all of the multicolored furniture. But these kits are so much fun, definitely took me a week of working on and off, but I am a perfectionist. Maybe 24 hours in total work. Definitely worth the buy, and i found it less tedious than the greenhouse kit they sell. But loved both. ... show more

  • Read the directions a couple times before you start.
Style: DG - Cathy's Greenhouse
This was my first mini. I loved it. It was rewarding and it's so cute when finished. I missed a couple of steps, because I wasn't used to the way the directions are laid out. The light might feel intimidating, but it really isn't. I have zero electrical experience but follow the directions and you'll be fine. I loved the glue provided. It's tacky and can be stringy, but it holds together well and it gives you a few minutes to reposition, in case you messed up. The stringy part was super annoying though. The nearly invisible strings would be attached to the little leaves or flowers and all of a sudden the flower would fly across the table. I do suggest you get a syringe with a decently wide tip for the glue. It's so much easier to control the amount. ... show more

  • Do NOT buy this for your first attempt!
Style: DG - Cathy's Greenhouse
The media could not be loaded. First, let me be clear - it was a great kit and I loved doing it, and the end result is so worth it! Second, however, I strongly urge you not to buy this one if it is your first time doing a craft of this type. I made this mistake, and it was a struggle. This kit had a TON of really difficult plants to make, and yes I am aware that it is a flower shop but like I said this was my FIRST TIME and I didn't have any idea what was involved in making one of these things! I guess I figured there would be leaves and stems and such to put together, but I didn't realize it was all tiny paper pieces that had to be cut and glued and then glued onto tiny pieces of wire where the glue just absolutely will not stick, and I just got really burned out on the plant-making portion of the kit. I LOVED making the furniture and rugs and shelves and books and things like that, which was what the directions start you out with, but then the very large chunk of the middle of the directions is all the plant-making, and I found myself taking more and more breaks that lasted longer and longer because I just started hating those plants so much and getting frustrated at the techniques I had to figure out. Also the plastic shell of the structure was such a GIANT pain in the ass, and I got glue in spots that are just ruined now, but I kinda stopped caring during those two weeks when we were all listening to Midnights, so I just kept going and finally finished it 3 years after I bought it. Third, my recommendation if you are new to this would be to get a simpler looking kit to try first so you can see which parts you enjoy and which you hate and then buy a better kit based on that. I am about to buy my second one, and it is the house with the edgeless pool and a ton of furniture and bedding and pictures and stuff because that is what I really enjoyed on the last one. I'm also considering the castle that's just a bunch of rocks that you glue on the walls because it looks like a good one to do when you need to let your mind drift and zone out. I got a lot out of the process of this even if it did take up my dining room table for 3 years lol. It saw me through lockdown, a hysterectomy, marital problems, health problems, a whole month of listening to folklore and crying every day to and from work, death of a close relative, lots of self-medicating, some breakthroughs, and finally a feeling of true accomplishment. It's one of the hardest crafts I've ever done, but I learned a lot, so it might become a new hobby. We'll see. Fourth, I gave it 4 stars bc even though it was tough and had some issues, it did turn out really cute and I love it now. I wanted to set it on fire and run over it with the car, but I realized that even though it has flaws and isn't perfect it is complete, and I made that happen. ... show more

  • Satisfying Project, Lots of Tiny Pieces
Style: DG - Sam's Bookstore
I loved putting this together. Lots of cutting, folding and gluing of tiny pieces. I had zero luck putting the light together and made it look okay without lighting up. The instructions could be difficult to understand and I read ahead and planned ahead where needed. So many details to customize as you put together. ... show more

  • I became obsessed
Style: DG - Cathy's Greenhouse
I actually purchased this as a fun wintertime activity with my partner but ended up putting it off because I was so intimidated. The directions take a bit of…creative problem solving skills to work out, but once you get into it you can “speak the language” enough to get from point A to point B. This was definitely the wrong kit for me to try as a newbie to miniatures, even as a crafty person. The glue provided didn’t seem to hold very well so I just broke out my hot glue gun and clear Elmer’s glue to supplement. There was a lot of “what?” And “oh no’s” being uttered by me as I worked through it, but I think I did an okay-enough job. It took me about 3 months of casual assemblage to get it to the finish line. The base was the most frustrating part, as I feel like I made the tension of the walls too tight to match up with the base board. But at that point I was too excited to finish it so I used scraps of foliage to fill in the gaps. Getting the little light to work was the real thrill! It’s so cute, and I will definitely try another kit. I think as long as you are looking for something to engage your creative brain with your problem solving brain, you’ll find this kit to be a good fit as a little hobby. ... show more
