Compatible Mountings: Sony A

Camera Lens Description: The Rokinon 24mm F3.5 Tilt Shift Lens for Canon EF is a versatile wide-angle lens designed for full-frame cameras, though it is also compatible with APS-C sensors. It features a fixed focal length of 24mm and a maximum aperture of f/3.5, providing a wide angle of view of 83.5 degrees on full-frame cameras and 59.9 degrees on APS-C. The lens is constructed with 16 elements in 11 groups, including two aspherical and two extra-low dispersion (ED) elements, which help reduce aberrations and provide sharp details and accurate color separation. The Ultra Multi-Coating (UMC) on each lens element ensures even light transmission and minimizes reflections, flare, and ghosting. One of the standout features of this lens is its tilt-shift functionality, allowing for precise control of perspective and depth of field. The tilt mechanism enables an adjustment of the focal plane by an angle of ±8.5°, and the shift mechanism allows for a parallel shift of the optical axis by ±12mm. Additionally, the lens mount can be rotated up to 90 degrees to the right and 90 degrees to the left, with 30-degree adjustment click stops. This lens is perfect for architectural, landscape, and product photography where controlling perspective and correcting convergence of lines is essential. See more

  • Awesome lens
Style: For Canon
I've come to really, really enjoy this lens. The build quality is fantastic (really not sure what the other reviewer was talking about - the knobs are super easy to use). The focus ring is an absolute pleasure, especially for video. And when you play to its strengths - tilt shift and macro - it produces some stunning pictures. The rest of my camera kit is L glass, but I like this lens so much I often use it as a walk around. For those who don't know about tilt shift lenses, they basically allow you to change the depth of field from the standard front-to-back to a much more interesting composition. For example, I can simulate very shallow depth of field with this lens, even though it's a 24mm. That lets you get really creative and make some truly amazing images. THINGS THIS LENS IS GOOD AT: - Tilt shift photographs. - Macro, due to the super low minimum focus distance. - Very low barrel distortion. - Color rendition. - Bokeh. - HD video, both tilt shift and normal. THINGS THIS LENS IS NOT GOOD AT: - If you like to shoot 20MP photos at f/3.5, focused at infinity and no tilt shift, then view your pictures at 100% and pixel peep, this is not the lens for you. This is not a razor sharp lens. It is, however, PLENTY sharp to get awesome results, especially for well under half the price of the Canon equivalent. - Autofocus. It doesn't have it. But seriously, it is not difficult to manually focus a 24mm lens at f/3.5+. It's actually really easy, especially with a focus ring that's as dampened as this one. And when the lens is tilted (i.e. it's main purpose), you would never autofocus anyway, because you're playing with the depth of field to decide what parts of the image you want blurry and what parts sharp. In other words, if you plan to use a tilt shift lens creatively for photos or videos to get that awesome blur effect, get this and save $1000. If you plan to use a tilt shift lens for pixel-perfect architecture photography, get the Canon instead. ... show more

  • Spec updates and some sharpness concerns Spec updates and some sharpness concerns
Style: For Canon
There are two parts to this review: 1) clarifications on the specs which buyers should be aware of 2) specific sharpness problems in some cases that made me return this lens. 1) Spec updates: Buyers should know that there are no electronics in this lens at all. It is not just a manual focus lens. There are big differences between the Canon TS-E lenses that also require manual focus and this one: - this lens does not have focus confirmation either - this lens has no electronic aperture control. In the Canons you use the viewfinder with aperture always full open and it snaps close to where you want when you take the shot. This lens doesn't do that. There also seems to be focus creep when changing aperture, so you can't focus full open and then step down to take the shot - this lens doesn't tell the camera what focal length and aperture were in effect when taking a shot (for the EXIF info) Quite frankly I am baffled at the lack of AF confirm. I think if you buy the Nikon version and a $15 EOS adapter with AF confirm you would get that. What the heck? Other spec clarifications: - the focal length varies with focus, it is longer at infinity. I don't know yet what the true values are - it's all plastic but seems solid enough to me. Shifting and tilting work well 2) Possible sharpness concerns: Take this with a grain of salt since it is only one lens I tested and I didn't give it a long evaluation myself. It seems that there is a very serious sharpness problem at or close to infinity focus with apertures bigger than f/11. I have not been able to take any shot at bigger apertures that was "landscapish" (that means not a closeby object) that was sharp. Zero. Unfortunately initial reports on the net and more formal tests seem to confirm this. I have taken some nice test shots of close-up objects such as flowers, which are sharp at f/3.5. I decided to return the lens as "defective". I hope that if this is a general problem with this lens Rokinon can fix it after the first production batches. ... show more

  • Rokinon TSL24M-C 24mm f/3.5 Tilt Shift Lens for Canon
Style: For Canon
This is a great lens. Some reviews said the smaller knobs were too small but they didn't seem overly small or hard to use. There is one turning of the lens where the two knobs line up and that is hard to use but it doesn't happen all the time and you can work around it. Some said it was plastic and seems like it wouldn't hold up. The plastic also seems fine to me. I am not going to be beating up the lens and need metal of some strong composite. Having fun with this lens. ... show more

  • Wonderful Lens
Style: For Canon
I love this lens! My only regret is not buying it sooner. It is easy to use, very sharp and does exactly what it is supposed to do. It’s a great lens to have in my collection and I’ve been using it more than I even thought I would. I would definitely recommend it.

  • Super lens, worth every penny! Super lens, worth every penny!

Bought this on a whim to explore tilt shift photography without shelling a ridiculous amount of money. Purchased for less than $700 and it is truly a bargain compared to the competition! I would purchase this again if I had to. If only they had other focal lengths available!

  • Good optics let down by shocking build quality
Style: For Canon
I've had great luck with the Rokinon/Samyung third party lenses recently. The 35mm 1.4 and the 85mm 1.4 have replaced my canon L series equivalents. Though some have complained about the build quality of those lenses I personally found them to be fine. Not built to last till the end of time but certainly robust enough for my clumsy mits. So with that in mind I wasn't concerned with the naysayers of the new tilt shift 24mm. I assumed I'd be happy enough with the Rokinon to sell my canon 24mm tilt shift and have a few hundred bucks in my pocket. But, alas, ....no. Optically the lens is fine. If not quite to the standard of the canon, it's really, really close. Certainly good enough for me to sell the canon and head off for a weekend in Vegas. But unfortunately the build quality is rubbish. This is predominantly made apparent in the knobs used for adjusting the tilt and the shift. Weak plastic that tightens with very little pressure to the extent that you need to carry around a leatherman or pliers in order to loosen the knobs so as to adjust the features. Considering this is the primary purpose of the lens it is completely infuriating. I just walked around the city all afternoon constantly swearing at having to pull pliers out every two minutes and terrified that I would snap the knobs. Which obviously I would we're I to keep the lens more than a day or two. But, I won't. Have to send it back. No Vegas for me. ... show more

  • Worth the price and fun lens
Style: For Canon
Can’t expect the same image quality like a L lens but it is worth the price. There are many professional reviews about this lens already.
