  • Battery needs frequent charging
Size: Wireless Go
This is a 5-star mic with a 2-star battery. RODE customer support was not helpful due to the specific Amazon seller (which is not mentioned as a condition in their warranty). You cannot purchase a replacement battery and must replace the entire unit. Would also be nice if it came with 2 mic adapters of a choice instead of having to purchase separately. ... show more

  • Fantastic!!
Size: Wireless Go
You may be wondering why i wrote 4 stars and put Fantastic in title. These wireless mics are exceptional. 1. It’s made by RODE. They just make great sound equipment. 2. It’s price! For a wireless mic and the price of these, you won’t do better. I looked at wireless for a long time. Compared sound quality, while some were good, this matches or exceeds the quality at 1/3 of the price. 3. They do sound great! But additives make it better.. will explain at end. 4. They are so easy to use. Turn on, attach to your equipment and person, ready to roll. The additives.. what is your use with these? If you are using with an phone or a setup with a different aux connection, you will NEED to buy the Rode SC7 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Patch cable. Otherwise you won’t get the right audio. Second attachment, and just recommended, the onboard mic is good.. and had a wind shield if you can make it stay, BUT i highly recommend and decent lavalier mic. You can get a good one under $20 i think. I got mine cheap, but good reviews. Basically i plug it in to the transmitter side (the rode on the person) that way the mic can be closer to the person’s mouth and trucked if needed, and the rode can clip to pants. This increases the sound quality so much. So why 4 stars on some. The sound is great. I am just an @$$ and comparing it more expensive and higher quality vocals and sound canceling. It does amazing though. Again, worth more than that expensive pole mics. Oh point 5. Versatility. Can put in pocket amd take anywhere. The battery is great. Lasts me a few video sessions without needing a charge. But unless it lasts 12 hrs “yeah right, haha, am i right?” Then i am always like “MORE BATTERY LIFE!” But for the size, it’s amazing how much battery life these have. Point 6. Range! I don’t really need it, but it does have superb range. Well, that’s it. I hope this helps. If you are looking for a wireless setup, DONT SECOND GUESS IN THIS ONE. You will be very happy. ... show more

  • Excellent product in early use
Size: Wireless Go
There have been quite a few negative reviews on the product so I feel a little compelled to share my experience. I would like to say that out of the box, it works great, no signal disruption even in the most wifi dense spaces I can find, excellent range, and audio records reliably whether my back is turned to the camera or not, even at 20 meters away, through a glass door with a metallic UV coating. The devices are tiny in size and are able to record for up to 7 hours. They fit wonderfully into camera cold shoes, or clipped to your shirt and levels can be adjusted directly on the receiver unit. They even include a cute carry pouch, TRS cable, and 2 wind muffs in the package. I tested the built in mic to my own lavalier mic plugged into the unit and the sound quality is very good. The lows are slightly more rolled off on the built in mic but subjectively I actually like the way my voice sounds on the built in mic a little more (I have a slightly lower, nasal sounding voice). This is far beyond what i expected for a built in mic and will be using it over my lav mic from now on in most situations. Based on the negative reviews I read here, I also tried hot plugging and unplugging microphones during the recording process and trying all sorts of silly tricks to get the unit to stop recording audio but it just never happened. The device is rock solid The only thing I cannot vouch for is long term reliability. If the device does encounter issues, I will update this review. But if this is all you are reading, assume the product continues to work well for me The product is incredible value and I would dare say, an absolute no brainer for anyone with even a slight inclination towards recording decent audio. What you get for the price simply can't be beaten, in my opinion ... show more

  • Came highly recommended
Size: Wireless Go
If I am to believe YouTube all the cool kids use them. For a person, like me, just starting out - they were within my price range. I'm not a podcaster. I'm using them for my very amateur hobby of filming DIY yoga videos on YouTube. The downside: the instructions, for a newbie, are really daunting. They consist of 4 drawings. There is also a cautionary warning included that advises the user to thoroughly read all the instructions first, before use. I turned the box upside down and inside out looking for instructions to read. Not finding any I went to the Rode website. There I found the instructions, and guess what? They were the same four drawings. ouch So much for following the directions. I think if you have prior familiarity with gear this is kid stuff. For me I was like off to YouTube to watch several videos on how to use them. I'm sure I am not using them to their full capacity yet because I don't understand what the knobs, buttons and extras are for. I only just today learned what the fuzzy things are. So it's early for me to vote on the battery life and the audio quality. I can tell you right now there's no warmth: these are made of black plastic and do not emanate heat. I have since learned that in order to use them with my MacBook Pro I need an adapter that is not included in the box. I may upgrade my review after receiving the adaptation piece. We'll see. For now, I still stand by 3 out of 5 for the electronically challenged. It was definitely not obvious (to me) about the additional hardware. Sigh. But maybe it would be to you, if you are used to using this kind of thing. I can confidently say they are versatile because I have watched ever so many videos on them and the uses seem endless. Use them for Pod casting or interviewing or recording videos etc etc ... show more
