We used these on a ski trip as a base layer under ski pants and a ski jacket. It was between 20 and 30 degrees on our trip. My child said they were very comfortable, but they got a little hot while skiing once the weather warmed up to over 30 degrees. We just unzipped the sides of the jacket to vent body heat, and it was perfect. My kids also run quite hot so it might work just perfect all day for another kid. Definitely recommend. ... show more

I'm so on the fence about how to rate this! - My son absolutely loves these. I might buy another pair he loves them so much, BUT . . . - My MIL had to take the waist in by INCHES. He's 5 years old, about 42lbs and 44 inches tall (A lean little boy, I know). We got him the small and they fit like jammies. If I do get another pair it will be the XS so they fit better under his clothes. The waist was seriously ridiculous and there won't be a time when it won't be. If he's tall enough for the waist, the pants would be capris. Comfort is absolutely 5 stars, though. The fleece lining is cozy. Because my son's so lean he gets cold easily during our winters, and he stays toasty warm with these on. So, they do their job very well. tl;dr? My 9 yo wore these in 37 degree weather in Tahoe and was plenty warm. These thermals are extremely soft and comfortable, fit true to size, and make a great base layer. For reference, my son is on the small, thin side, 52 inches tall, about 62 pounds, and the mediums fit great with a bit of room to grow. I had to return these ran way too big for my skinny son (11yrs, 12/14,) I ordered xl based on other customers reviews bcse there was no size chart I could see? They were soft and cozy feeling but again just too big for him.

My boys love these however the waist on the pants does seem to run large on both of my boys. The tops are nice because they fit longer and tuck into their pants. They both love sleeping in them at night and will wear them under their clothes on cold days. I know they are staying warm when they will go out without their jackets and play for an extended period of time. I wish I could give five stars, but again the sizing on the waist for the bottoms seems very large. ... show more
