  • I love Rock Band games and never owned one
I love Rock Band games and never owned one. Got a PS4 now and decided to get one of these for myself. I had to return a set because it wasn't detecting correctly, had no issues with the exchange and wasn't put through a hard process to do an exchange. To give a review on this product I enjoy the new guitar solo system where I can make up solos on the guitar, instead of the previous Rock Band versions where you are scripted. The scripted ones do pop up on previous Rock band songs so you can have a mix of both worlds. The only con I have with this game is that unless you have the songs to carry over from the previous Rock Bands you are limited to around 90 songs and I've played far enough to see you don't unlock new songs as you go. ... show more

  • I've had to send the kit back TWICE due to it not working properly
Rock Band is an awesome group/party game and there aren't enough of those out there. However, I wasn't happy with this bundle. The very small library of songs that came with the game are unimpressive and make me feel like I've been cheated a bit, especially as someone who has owned every Rock Band game since its inception. I feel like we shouldn't have to buy songs that came with the previous games or have to drop an extra $20 on DLC songs just to feel like I have a decently sized library of songs. But most importantly, I noticed that this drum set, once again, doesn't register all of my hits. The foot pedal does not seem to be affected by the calibration settings and registers WAY too late or sometimes not at all. The yellow pad doesn't always respond as well. Apparently, Harmonix went with a different builder for their instruments this time and at least visually this is obvious. Just like every other Rock Band bundle though, the drums are not perfect. For the price we're paying and this being a NEW bundle and not used, the instruments should work. ... show more

  • Really good improvement over mad catz rb4.
As a long time rock band player, I haven't upgraded instruments in several years. After two days with the redesigned pdp instruments, I've concluded the following. 1) The drum pedal is reliable compared to past iterations, I prefer to play with 'rubber tipped' sticks to dampen sound however, and I can say that the actual drum set is not very responsive unless struck solidly. That said, when I play with the included sticks, or any other wooden tips, it is quite responsive and if there is a failure to hit, it's on me. 2) The jaguar guitar is definitely a step above the stratocaster launched with rb4. The buttons are very soft, which for expert players is a bonus, so there is no real 'break in' period to speak of. 3) There is NO dropoff to speak of concering the Bluetooth functionality, at least as far as I've seen. The mad catz instruments from the rock band 4 launch required firmware updates to even be close to perfect, these seem to only miss if it's user error. I'm very happy with the new instruments, and it's worth it to upgrade if you are still using legacy from rb3. ... show more

  • Good but not great.
Love the kit but drums could be more durable, sturdy, and maybe even heavier. The peddle is the worst though. I remember the drums being better for the PS3 kit.

  • I am disappointed :(
I was looking forward to this as I haven't bought since PS3 Rock Band. The song list is meh and I guess I missed out on being able to at least export the original songs. I really didn't want to have to spend a lot just to get a decent song list, so that was too bad. The drums seem okay and not sure if I'm out of practice/suck or if it's a drum lapse issue. The guitar - I love the idea of the foldable guitar. This is a fun game to play in groups so that's helpful for travel. However, my fender did not work out of the box. The lights briefly flashed and then never came on again. I tried PDP customer 'support' but that was a joke. After repeatedly calling them within support hours and constantly getting a message saying that I was calling out of their hours, I finally gave up. I decided to go ahead and return the box as my silly expectation is that the whole bundle should work and not just pieces. ... show more

  • Should have heeded the warnings
Mic is better, guitar seems fine (played a little to test, but I spend most of my time on drums). Drums are bad. I like that you can adjust it higher than previous models (I'm 6'5"), but the red pad drops notes *often* and just a few minutes ago the drums lost connection in the middle of a song. This is embarrassing. Why are drums so difficult to do acceptably? I've owned Rock Band, Rock Band 2, Rock Band 3, Beatles, and now I'm regretting buying Rock Band 4, feels like a lot of wasted money. *Update*: drum situation is worse, frequent disconnects, red pad might as well not be there for half the song; to exacerbate things the game frequently has unplayable lag while 2 players are playing (me on drums, gf on vocals). This almost makes me regret ever getting into Rock Band in the first place, and I've purchased 5 games, 5 guitars (including pro plastic and pro "real"), the keyboard (no longer supported), and two drums with the pro cymbal kit. I wish I'd kept the Rock Band 2 instruments, but I figured new instruments for new game and new system, right? ... show more
