    • Don't know why everyone else is having problems
I've read a lot of reviews claiming the disc won't play, the instruments are off or don't work, and some people are unable to download previously purchased DLC. Well I can honestly say I haven't had any problems whatsoever. I knew it was the European version before I bought it based on the pictures and the missing ESRB rating. I didn't think it would matter since Xbox Ones are sold internationally anyway. Plus $100 for the whole bundle is a steal. The only reason I docked it one star is for a few minor issues; the drums were a real pain to put together and the directions don't even tell you what to do they just expect a few pictures to be enough to walk you through it. Took me about 45 minutes to figure it out. The second reason I docked a star was for the lack of songs included with the game and for the most part they really aren't that great. In my opinion this is by far the weakest set of songs ever included in a Rock Band game. Out of the 60 tracks that come with the game I was only fond of about 3 or 4 tracks, could care less about the rest. 4 out of 60 is not a good ratio when it comes to music. If you want better music you'll have to pay $2 per song or buy one of the DLC packs from the store. Now about the DLC. I had at least 20 songs that I had bought years ago when I owned the first Rock Band. It would have been nice if the game gave you a list of previously purchased songs on the store menu and just let you install them but no... you have to scroll through the almost never ending list of DLC and pick out the songs you own which for me anyway were all labeled as 'Purchased' on the store and I just had to install them individually. As to the reason why people are having trouble downloading their DLC I have no idea. Like I said I was able to get all of my DLC without any issues. All of my instruments work there's no problem there. I have a few old Xbox 360 guitars somewhere that I would like to try out and see if they're compatible but I still have to go through storage and locate them. The only other minor complaint I have about the game is the lack of a multiplayer feature. Not a big deal for me since I would rather play locally with friends anyway but it still would of been nice to be able to connect with other players and compete or play cooperatively. And yes before you ask I do live in the United States and all of my Xbox equipment was purchased in the US. My Xbox read the disc just fine and immediately installed and updated. I don't know why everyone else is having trouble with the European version but I would suggest contacting the seller because something is clearly out of place if my game and DLC works and nobody else's does. ... show more

    • Fair job with refurbishment barring one major issue
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my daughter. I was apprehensive, to say the least, in regards to a refurbished set, but after visiting MANY sellers and reading reviews, Mad Catz seemed like the best option and worth the increased price. Functionality wise, everything works fine, for the most part. Some parts are a little "gummy" but it's not out of the realm of what would be expected for a refurbed set. What warrants a loss in stars for me was the smell. The moment the box was opened (which was BARELY big enough for the guitar and put strain on the neck) the SMELL of cigar/cigarette smoke was pungent, to say the least. The X Box buttons (not the A, B, X, or Y but the "power" X Box button themselves) were YELLOW with nicotine. I spent several hours washing everything in vinegar to help combat the smell, and it's not really noticeable unless you smell them directly or sniff your hands after use. Initially, I was ready to write off the product completely, but this was the "big" gift for my daughter that Christmas. It was hard enough to find quality in an outdated game, especially one that brought me and my friends so many laughs prior to her being born, and to be able to share similar experiences with her was worth paying the additional money for a better reviewed product. But man... I'm still upset some 3 months later about the smell. It took me several hours to get it down, it's ridiculous to me that this was seemingly not even a concern before it was sent out the door, particularly when the "quality" is overall praised. Anyway, I'd put it squarely at 3.5 stars. Instrumentation works with signs of normal wear and tear, and the disc plays fine. Old drumsticks were grimy, but appreciated the second set of new drumsticks in the box, as well. Honestly, the quality of everything was what I paid for, and were it not for the stench, I'd join the chorus of singing Mad Catz praises for an otherwise fine referb job. ... show more

    • Beware this comes with the European Disc Version.
I purchased this item when it was on sale for $100 from Woot. The page implied this was the US version, yet I received the European version. As other sellers have said, the instruments will be fine, but the game disc will have trouble with a US account.

After using the drum set for 48 hour ins game time the red pad broke off at the plastic. When I received the game the drums were good but the red pad was unstable, after playing for a while the pad just snapped off at the plastic. As far as used drums go you can definitely find better for $750.
