After spending 20k totally rebuilding my 81 Vette front to back, I decided to hold back on one of the expensive Stage 2 Rochester options for now and pulled the trigger on this one. Have to say, I wasn't expecting much, but I have been pleasantly surprised. Dropped it on there for the first start of this engine, and it hardly cranked twice before firing off and cold idled near perfectly before any break in on the motor or tune on this carb. After adjusting it, wow, really shocked how responsive it is. Have not driven the car yet as the entire suspension and brake system is out and being updated now, but it seems to run great and starts dead cold instantly every time. The ONE issue, or, possible FUTURE issue I may throw out there as a warning to all who may not be aware; These, unlike the originals are made from 100% aluminum. WAY lighter than an original Q-Jet, thats great, but im not certain if all the interior areas that hold or pass fuel are plated. Problem with that, if you leave fuel in an un-plated alum carb, due to the crap gas we have now, the alum parts will oxidize quick and seize up. So, after sitting for the winter, your carb may run like total crap. And if the oxidation is that bad, I dont believe there is a way to bring it back. So, this carb will be drained and flooded with WD-40 for the winter.. I mean, it looks shiny, like they plated it somehow, but I dont know for sure. So, BE ADVISED! Other than that, I could have bought three for the price of one after-market performance Q-Jet.. Hard to beat as long as it keeps running. ... show more

This thing sucks. Hasn’t worked since day one. Huge waste of money, do not purchase. Now we’re out of 200 dollars and I feel ripped off. It doesn’t even deserve a star but wouldn’t let me submit without one.

    • On-Point from order to application use
I reassemble from the box and bench set up my way. Set float, make sure its clean and screws are evenly tight and gaskets are even. I had to set up accelerator pump and arm from the box. Recommend buying a jet kit with nozzle numbers on them if you plan on rejetting. My suggestion, buy a quality base gasket and make sure its the correct one. This carburetor vs price is On-Point and highly recommended if you trust my above info. You will have a great carburetor! The added parts I suggest and little extra labor is worth it and a 100+ savings compared to other sources. That comes from a perfectionist experienced mechanic!! ... show more

Took a chance on this due to all the positive reviews and I was pleasantly surprised by how it ran. Sucked air like crazy through the manifold gasket at first but I replaced with a thicker gasket I had on the shelf and solved the issue, gotta torque the bolts down correctly and take your time. Right out of the box, was tuned perfectly, didnt have to adjust a thing. I would make sure you know your vacuum hose routes, this can get complicated fast and there were no pictures showing which port was which. Take pictures. Rig ran better than it has in 20 years! -bish

Was rather nervous about this purchase. But I installed it on my old 305 sbc and it decided to start right up. A quick idle adjustment and it works just as I need it to. Very impressed for the cheap price!

    • Cheap low quality product unfortunately.
Tried two of them, both leak fuel and load up hard! could never get it right after months. Doesn’t accelerate or idle well, it does seem to cruise fine as long as you don’t have to stop. You don’t save $300 you cost yourself $200.
