This is a really unique chair. While not as small as some other portable power chairs, the omnidirectional wheels still give a really nice turning radius. The seat is comfortable, and the look is sleek. With the weather, I have not used it outside yet, but looking at the wheel design, I think it will be fine. The seat is higher than many chairs, so if you are under 5 ft like me, your feet will not reach the footplate. However, the added height makes it easier to reach some things without having a power seat lift. There are a number of safety features built in such as slowing for turns and reversing, that may take a bit to get used to; however, they are wise given the higher than typical center of gravity. The voice announcing you are backing up can get annoying, but it can easily be turned off. The horn is not your typical beep, but rather sounds like a car horn. The folding and driving via app option is great, because the chair can be easily put out of the way, even stored under a table. The one glitch with this is that because the remote runs on your phone via Bluetooth, once the chair is turned off you cannot turn it back on with your phone to unfold it and bring it back over to you. Someone else has to turn it on manually. And now a note on the customer service. I've been a power chair user for 40 years, and never encountered this level of service.( In fact, 2 months ago I ordered another power chair, the Bounceback intelligent power wheelchair, from Amazon which arrived severely damaged, I was misled by the company about a return or replacement, and I'm still trying to get a refund from Amazon two months later even though I filed an initial issue report 2 hours after I received the chair. My review discussing this one month later, was denied on the grounds that it had more to do with delivery and the company then the chair. So since Amazon didn't want to publish my buyer beware notice, I hope they allow me to post this polar opposite shout out. ) This chair arrived on schedule, very well packaged. Before purchase, I had contacted the manufacturer to ask about the difference between two different models, and received a response within 24 hours. Since receiving the chair from Amazon, I received an email asking me to schedule a personal follow-up with the stateside engineering team to discuss my needs and experience, as well as asking me to provide my address so that I can receive a free long distance battery. The initial call I received from the engineering department just said if I had any problems I could call or text anytime, and since I hadn't, I did not call back. However, they persisted until they were able to reach me at a time I was not on the phone, because they really do want personal feedback from all the customers, this being a new chair on the market. For all those of us who have always gotten chairs from the big manufacturers over the years, where the approach is more impersonal and you take what you can get, this was a real pleasure. I provided the design request of considering how it can be safely restrained in a wheelchair accessible cab or paratransit bus, as many of those services will not transport unless the chair can be tied down. I was also offered the opportunity to receive the accessories of my choice and provide feedback. If you are looking for a lightweight portable chair, suitable for people who may not be ambulatory at all, I highly recommend checking out the Robooter brand. If this model isn't for you, they do have a few other models not yet available on Amazon.

When a family member became disabled, we knew we needed a way for him to get around. The large custom wheelchairs are great but impossible to get into the car. This gives him the ability to get out of the house and be part of our everyday lives. It is sleek, fast, great turning radius, super easy to use. We’ve had zero issues with battery, steering or anything else. The only features that are missing are an ability to raise/lower chair height and ability to tilt back. But the trade off is that the chair is lightweight and mobile and perfect for all our day trips or appointments or errands. Given that the custom chairs (with all the added functions) are many tens of thousands of dollars, this is a great value and performs well above its price point. In addition, the customer service team is amazing! They independently reached out several times: to confirm the chair was delivered, to ask if an alternate joystick would be preferred, to offer a larger battery, and to ensure the larger battery was delivered. They answered all my questions and sent these additional items without charge. They’ve been absolutely terrific! Highly recommend!

OK, I have had my chair for a little over a year now and I am more in love with it today than I was when I first got it. It has exceeded all my expectations in every way :D I got to use it at the Ren Faire, and it did way better than I thought it would considering the rough terrain of the venue. It works GREAT at the ballpark going over all those large rocks in the parking area. My family is impressed as well as so many others who have asked questions. I have let many give it a test drive for themselves and something tells me that if they have the money to get one, they probably ordered that day. It would not surprise me if 6-10 have been bought just on my saleslady ship alone, lol. I get to go all over my small town to run errands, and I am getting very well known by many who see me on it often :) I haven't done an upgrade on it in a while and when I did, I learned I now have cruise control, who would have thunk it?? LOL. I just wish I were a millionaire; I would buy so many of these for others, it isn't funny. So again, if you are thinking of getting one of these chairs, you will not regret it. Get quality back in your life too. I'll begin with a little bit of MY background. I have major pelvic damage caused from a bladder mesh. Even after getting the damage repaired, it left me VERY limited on what I can and can not do. Like dance, walk long distances, carry minor heavy things, and stand for long periods of time without leaning on something. When it came to spending time with my family, like at the zoo, at the ball park, or even a river walk, they had to slow their pace and wait on me or else get left behind using a rollator (walker with four wheels and a seat), which left me tired and with sore arms once I got to point B. And the rollator DID NOT work on all terrains, which made me work harder to get to point B, about the only good thing I could say about it was...I had a place to sit once I did make it to point B, but it kept me from wanting to go just about anywhere. Not even to the swing set in my apartment complex with my grandchildren. I could get from point A to point B, but by the time I got there, I had to rest for 10+15 mins. before I could even enjoy point B. I have also been working the Gulf Coast Renaissance Fair for almost 20 years now with my two snakes Sir Hiss and Seymor. And for the past two years, it was getting harder and harder for me to walk around pushing a wheelchair and holding them both, that I was going to have to quit unless I could find someone to assist me in the handling of my boys. Which I got this year from my youngest son and his family. It was the first time they have been able to be at the fair with me, but even with their help, I was still not able to venture the entire venue, and that saddens me. So when I started research on finding an electric scooter, I took my snakes into account on the design I chose :). So I started looking, since I was going to have to borrow the money, I was going to go with something less expensive. BUT when I came across the information and reviews on the Robooter X40, I was in love with the design, it was not overly busy in hardware, like wheels with spokes, hand rails, motor and battery compartment, etc., and I felt more confident that my boys would not get trapped in places that I would not be able to get them out of :). When it came down to making a firm commitment to the purchase, I had questions, so I texted my questions to customer service and they were very quick in answering said questions, not to mention it was an actual living, breathing, person who responded, not a robot set to pick up on key words and respond with a script. So that really made me feel better on putting out the money on this scooter. So the day comes when I can place the order, YAY!! It only took a few days to be delivered and when it got here, it was packaged in such a secure way that made a big impression and made me feel more comfortable that I had made the right decision. I had to get a couple of young men to remove it from the packaging for me. Once I got to sit on it and use it, I am 100 % happy with my choice. I live in a very small town and have all the stores I need very close by. So I did some test runs to these stores and now, I don't even use my car if my needs are few and can fit in my backpack :). I HAVE MY INDEPENCE BACK!!! If I could, I would buy this for many of my friends that would benefit from having it more than myself. I have not been able to test it out in some of the areas I do plan on using it, but the areas I have been able to test it on, has passed all my expectations. Yes, I could have bought cheaper, but I'm glad I didn't, this chair is QUALITY of life and I would highly recommend to anyone, which I have already done to people who have shown interest, that if they can invest in it, it would be a good one. OH and the after sales service has been top notch making sure I am happy with the chair. Any time I have had a question, they were on top of getting the information to me. The chair comes with a battery that will do 7.5 miles on one charge and it is safe to carry onto airplanes. They offer a free battery that has a 15 mile charge, NOT safe to carry onto airplane, and all I had to do was send them my info when the chair arrived and they ship it out free of charge, not even any S&H, winner, winner. This was a large investment for me, and I do not make them lightly, but I get the feeling that in the long run, this is going to be one of the best investments I have made to keep me independent, thank you Robooter :)
